Tracy Grimshaw could move to 60 Minutes, Karl Stefanovic could take over A Current Affair and a new bloke could move onto Today according to one report today.
The Daily Telegraph hints that Nine news boss Darren Wick is considering the moves following Grimshaw’s interview with Matthew Johns which received wide praise from commentators and the show’s best figures for the year.
Following the story she gave 18 follow up interviews to media. Today Grimshaw also comments on the interview noting:
“… it was tough and I don’t apologise for that,” she said.
“I wouldn’t say the interview was particularly comfortable for me.
“There was a particularly highly charged atmosphere in that room.”
It isn’t the first time many have felt Grimshaw is “wasted” on ACA, particularly when it comes to introducing consumer stories on the best place to buy plasma TVs or comparing take away foods. Stefanovic has previously hosted ACA as has David Gyngell’s wife Leila McKinnon.
The Tele notes that Grimshaw has been ‘agitating for some time for a change of role at the network.’
Last year she told TV Tonight, “Karl’s very happy doing the Today show and I’m very happy doing ACA.
“That’s media speculation. Honestly, I’ve never had a conversation with anybody about that stuff.
“So far as I know, unless somebody knows more than me, I’m doing what I’m doing, Karl’s doing what he’s doing and 60’s doing what they’re doing.”
Of course that was six months ago…

Tracy should go to 60 minutes where her talents will be better used,Would hate to see Karl on ACA,Cameron Williams could host ACA.
Like many others have said, Tracey wouldn’t be “wasted” and there would be no problem if ACA actually became decent. But fat chance of that happening.
Well I would be very suprised if Tracy moves to 60 Minues. She only just re-located down here to Melbourne. If she was to go to 60 Minutes it would be a lot more travel and I don’t think that is what she wants.
Tracy Grimjaw is as hard hitting as a feather duster, Where were her “tough” questions? Did he invite the rest of the team in? Did he stay and watch? Has he done this before? She should stick to what she does best, tow the company line. Oh and the latest diet fad.
Please get rid of cackling Karl altogether, he has never been a good presenter.
It isn’t the host who needs changing it is the show stop with all this shopper squad gardening and supermarket crap and concentrate on hard hitting truthful current affairs Tracy is 9s best hope for aca she proves that she has got what it takes to interview people like Gordon Ramsey and matt johns just make her a semi regular on 60 minuets or get her to do both

I wouldn’t want to do either ACA or 60 Minutes. I am sure you would all agree that 60minutes is not what it use to be. Budget cuts have killed it. Only the ABC and SBS have any type of credible current affair programs.
Sounds like a good plan myself! Tracey is wasted on ACA, put Karl on the sinking ship that is ACA and then we can be rid of him from our screens, then give poor Lisa someone who can help her host the Today show. If Karl goes from Today then I will be turning the channel back to Today as I haven’t watched it since Karl was forced upon us.
I agree with a number of the comments here that Tracey should stay at ACA but the content of the program should be modified to suit Tracey’s talents. Take it back to more of what it was when it first started with Willesee and Wendt. Make it distinctively different to Today Tonight. This may of course mean that the content of 60 Minutes may need to be modified to keep it different to ACA. I’m pretty sure that in the 80’s and early 90’s ACA only ran about 3 or 4 stories a night. Not sure if I’m correct.
Also Today is finally making a dent on Sunrise with Stefanovic and Wilkinson so best to leave it as it is. Karl might get a bit tipsy on air but even then he has the sense not to break out into the ‘Reject the Recession’ dance…

But the Karl and Lisa synergy is working for Nine. I couldn’t see them breaking up the Today team.

These days 60 minutes is just a longer version of ACA. She could do both.
I thought they were grooming Karl for the 60 Minutes’ gig. Why else have they been getting him to do so many stories lately? I don’t think Tracey is especially “hard-hitting”.
is there a reason tracy can’t do both? ACA and 60 minutes.she would make 60’s 8th reporter so she’d only have to do anything once a month and ACA couldn’t take up too much time.
if she does leave, don’t let karl take her place, he is ok on today and new bekkie guys are so hard to find whereas anyone can host ACA.
To be honest no matter who the host is ACA is always of low standard. In Perth we have our own person and studio and the stories that they show from the East are still the same low grade they have always been.
Good moves for Tracy to do more hard-hitting stuff on 60 Minutes and Karl to do the fluff on ACA. Please don’t let it be Cameron Williams that replaces Karl on Today. Ugh!
I like Tracy and she deserves alot more than ACA. But why would Nine want to move Karl from Today….they’ve finally found some stability on the today show and Lisa and Karls chemistry works wonders and its proving that in its increased figures.
I agree that Tracy Grimshaw is wasted, but we loathe Karl Stefanovic with the heat of a thousand suns.
So when are the roles of Nine’s programming department going to change with a few sackings? Nothing the poor, sad and tired old dear does is going to help rescue the network from doom until that crucial change happens.
That’d be right. As soon as ACA gets some meat and grunt about it; let’s get rid of the person responsible and put in a clown to keep the show at its usual low standard. Aaarrgh!

Today’s just now finding stability and losing Karl would be a hard act to follow.
Tracey is great and she needs something better than ACA so why not make ACA more suited to her and more focused on interviews and 7.30 Report like stories going behind the headlines and also general interest.
She certainly is wasted where she is. All Nine needs to do is change ACA’s direction into something that it used to be when Jana hosted. More in-depth, in-studio interviews, forums, and more use of their experienced reporters…. Oakes, Harvey…. less fluff and grocery stories. Leave that to 7’s Sunset Sports Tonight.
