mchef20bAnd here are the Top 20 contestants who will make up MasterChef Australia.

The twenty begin daily challenges from tonight in TEN’s new reality series as they battle it out for the title of Australia’s first MasterChef.

They will also move into a a $16m house in Sydney’s Eastern suburbs and face  a cook off with chicken.

The 20 includes seven finalists from Victoria including Sam Ciaravolo who got married the day before he left home for the Top 20, leaving behind his new wife, and foregoing his dream honeymoon in Thailand. Four finalists from New South Wales, including Lucas Parsons, an ex-professional golfer and Julie Goodwin, a working mum who lives for her husband and three boys. There are three finalists from Western Australia, including Trevor Forster who joins MasterChef Australia after 22 years as a Navy Submariner and 21 year old Kate Rodrigues, the youngest competitor in MasterChef who left UWA and her law degree to take part. Two finalists are from South Australia, including Poh Ling Yeow, an artist who was given a second chance by the judges in her first audition, and bowled them over with her Malaysian cuisine.

  1. An Interesting show, despite the typical cut throat attiutde we find in all of these reality shows. Still, somebody has to win, and at least the competitors are not forced to show their feral side by doing or saying anything worse than criticising their cooking abilities !!
The one thing that is obvious to me is …. they are all in a kitchen environment cooking food, and nobody is wearing a hat … particularly noticeable with some of the girls with their hair hanging aroung their shoulders, and in their face.
    Hmmmmmm.

  2. Masterchef UK is great for its original idea of turning a cook into a chef, but Masterchef Australia pits the cooks against one another like the biggest loser. Although competition is good, healthy competition is better. Masterchef UK hones the skills of the cook more without focusing so much on the judges pushing them to the emotional edge for the sake of the competition.

  3. I love MC it really cooks is entertaing and colourfull. The judges are straight shooters and not as rude as some other shows.I think we are all guilty at some stage of licking fingers and touching faces etc?Forget the boring bits brother and help these fine contestants dreams come true.

  4. I love MC its very entertaining and colourfull .The judges are straight shooters and not as rude as some other shows.Sure contestants lick their fingers and touch their hair etc, I think were all guilty at some stage of doing same?

  5. This is crap that the contestants vote each other out, its different in the uk the contestants are judged by the experts every time. This is another re run of big brother!!!

  6. my 7 year old daughter loves masterchef and is memorized by what they’re doing and how they cook it.I recieved a beautiful mother’s day breakfast with safety precautions from myself my daughter cooked me bacon , egg’s , grilled tomato , mushrooms and toast and it was beautiful a natural i have my own little masterchef at home. 🙂

  7. I eagerly awaited for this show to come on and was enjoying it so much until one team had to eliminate a player. The way this was done has displeased me so much, the contestants were so stressed out having to choose which one to pick . Its a pity it is not done the way the the UK one was done, by their cook offs.

  8. I missed last night, but am sorry I tuned into the biggest loser. The contestants vote off someone..hello… when did the biggest loser come back. I must have missed it. I thought this was all about the judges voting on the food, not the contestants voting on who should stay and who should go. I wonder if it will be like the biggest loser and they will turn up again, time and time again to win.
Anything to make a show I guess.

  9. If we want to talk about attractive judges, then may I say that I think that Matt is definitely the catch of the three…..

He looks like Jabba The Hut, and that, my friends, is sexy, yeh!?.

  10. Adam, the blue team lost but have to watch tonight to see who gets voted off. Sick how the judges sit on the fence and make the contestants judge each other. I hope Sam doesn’t get voted off by others in his team, he shows the most promise and it wasn’t his fault the blue team lost. The red team captain was useless and their snitching of the beef definitely affected the result

  11. a poor performance from the two judges this evening. Why would they target Trevor for answering honestly when his team captain asked him a question? Forget the speech about discipline guys and focus on who actually failed, the team captain. She asked a team member a question and he answered it. She should have asked Tom what was happening if the “proper chain of command” was meant to have been followed. Thats all there is to it. Trevor did nothing wrong at all.

  12. Zoe, it was Aaron and Melissa who were the bottom two in the chicken challenge. You can see the last 10 minutes of Monday’s episode at the Masterchef Australia website masterchef.com.au (it is not at Ten’s website) . Fortunately, you can also watch all of the previous episodes so far but I don’t know how long they will all be up there.

  13. Can anyone tell me who was eliminated tonight and from which team – red or blue – i missed the end of the show because i had to run out..

  14. What a boring, predictable, unhygienic and sleazy competition ! Boring because they talk too much , even before they taste it there is always a prelude to what they think it will taste like . It was predictable that Manu was going to win, imagine if he didn’t ! And the scorecards were just ridiculous , honestly what a joke ! Unhygienic from both contestants and judges, I have felt sick watching them ! They could learn alot from UK Masterchef ! And finally those myopic sleazy women coming on to George ! Have they had a good look at him ? He’s far from gorgeous girls , take a closer look ! Did anyone see George’s tongue hang out when the Spanish woman told him how much she loved him and that she danced the salsa ? His reply was ” Ooooo the salsa ( drool drool ) , yep she’s definitely in !
Gordon Ramsey must be laughing his f$%&^en head off , yeh !?

  15. I would like to question the general demeanor of chef George Calombaris. As we all know, Gordon Ramsay is the only person that is allowed to say ‘Yeh’ after every sentence. Why George has decided to take this approach baffles me slightly.

Can anyone please clear this up for me as I’m currently losing about 5 hours sleep a night because of it.

  16. I am really enjoying the show, however last nights cook off was such a let down!
The result was obvious, Sam never stood a chance and then did not get anything for his effort. Sam at least could have received a ‘get out of jail’ ticket for future challenges if needed. I was really disappointed and am hoping that this type of contest (no contest at all) will not continue.

  17. that really arrogant guy that is studying food biology (sorry, dont know names yet) and the skinny italian lady with the bright blue eyes…..

  18. I am enjoying the programme but am shocked that the judges have not commented on the lack of basic food hygiene shown by the contestants. While they are preparing food I have seen many of the contestants touching their hair, nose, face, mouth and immediately touching food. I even observed one woman licking her fingers!. If anyone did this whilst preparing my food I would walk out of the restaurant. I spent 10 days in hospital with salmonella after chef “poisoned ” me and I have no desire for a repeat. What I say is Lift your game!! Signed Bib

  19. I watched my first near full episode tonight.

Poh is quite lovely to watch. Aslong as she stays on the program I’ll watch… occasionally.

  20. Thankgod they’re past the auditions..that was starting to really drag….mind you, the promo’s don’t give you much to look forward to…”someone will be eliminated”…yeah, no kidding. Tell us something we don’t know like the format…the sorts of challenges that lie ahead..something to look forward to other than another elimination!

  21. I haven’t seen Masterchef UK so can’t comment on that.

But it’s like alot of reality shows, with interest growing once past initial episodes (in most cases auditions) and you start in on the action and learning who are the conestants who like or don’t like.
