BBC Two has commissioned a new comedy series starring Dawn French.
The six-episode series, titled Roger And Val Have Just Got In, stars French as the female lead.
Roger And Val follows the lives of the middle-aged couple after they come through the door at the end of a working day.
“Roger And Val leapt off the page at me the very first time I saw it,” said BBC head of comedy Mark Freeland. “There will be nothing like it when it arrives on BBC Two.”
He added: “It’s original, intriguing, sweet, funny and full of pathos. And it’s only got two people in it.”
The series, written by Emma and Beth Kilcoyne (Dogtown), will be broadcast later this year. Casting for a male co-star is still ongoing.
French will be touring Australia with Jennifer Saunders mid-year.

The male lead should be Steve Coogan.
