TEN’s new sports channel ONE will become available to all Foxtel cable subscribers from July 1st.
While the channel is already available to top-tier HD cable-based susbcribers now the SD channel will be added.
This means viewers will no longer have to switch platforms to view ONE.
“We are sure that SD viewers will be glad of the convenience of staying on a single platform as they navigate to view ONE,” TEN CEO Grant Blackley said.
The move follows a recent deal being stitched up between the two parties.
Satellite viewers will have to keep waiting at least until later in the year for that Optus satellite to go up.
Meanwhile, ONE has also cut a deal with Panasonic and Harvey Norman under which every Panasonic TV in Harvey Norman showrooms will be tuned to ONE HD.

Dont hold your breath for ONE to come to austar as it is all on satellite so will still have to wait until the new sat has been launched so once again we in regional areas are being screwed!!!!!
On the One issue, any update on when Southern Cross Ten, TDT and DDT are going to actually get One? Nothing from any of them, except TDT getting a battering in the (Hobart) Mercury on a regular occasion.
No updates yet. In coming weeks it will be time to press for further clarity.
Jason – Sky News…….
Saw the Sky UK feed last night at 12:30am – they decided to broadcast 4:3 and put blue bars on each side…….
Sky business channel overnight carries 16:9 fox business channel though
@ chrissyboy
Is that Sky News or Sky Racing?
The wait for this sattelite is the longest damn wait in the history of television – how many years have we been waiting for Ch 7 on Foxtel now? Just take away the channels nobody watches like ACC and Expo and clear some space that way.

ONE SD doesn’t re-transmit if the show is already on TEN and ONE HD at the same time.”
Correct. But what will Foxtel be broadcasting – ONE-SD or an SD version of ONE-HD? As you have pointed out there is a difference between ONE-SD and ONE-HD.
Will the SD version on Foxtel be a rebroadcast of ONE-SD which features the compelling program ‘Not Available’ on some Saturday and Sunday afternoons or will it be an SD feed of ONE-HD?

Camo, I think you’ll see ONE on SC10 a few weeks after Foxtel / Austar viewers do from what MSCM have recently said to the ASX. It coincides with AFL finals
now if Austar gets the jump on Sthn X TEN, well that would be a great bonus, as we have been hearing for months the ONE HD is coming to regional viewers…. blah blah blah
Old news.. its been mentioned on ONE-HD’s own webpage when ONE-HD was launched! ‘The Australia’ your slow off the mark on this one!
I had to get satellite when I moved to a townhouse – had no idea of some of the limitations in foxtel’s broadcast via that over cable……get the satellite up!
On a side note – good to see sky now in 16:9 – however the ticker placement annoys me a bit now…. the text looks super squashed in the middle now with the big white blocks on each side
Good to hear- pity the IPL will be over by the time it starts up on standard digital Foxtel on 1 july. 🙁
Now all we need is for Channel 7 to move their lazy butts and do the same!!!!!!!!
you can trust 10 do get a deal done with fox. 7 wouldnt want anything to do with them even though it would be in their best interest
Awesome news beenhoping 4 this 🙂
Thanx 4 the update David.
itsross: hearing you loud and clear on that one!! That thing better not explode going into orbit!!
What does this mean for Austar viewers?
Interesting about Panasonic and Harvey Norman, guess they won’t be doing that in regional areas LOL
Well when it goes on sattelite you may be able to get it FTA!
Its going to be a little hard for Harvey’s in Darwin to tune there Tvs to One as we don’t have it!!! Wonder if they thought of that?
think TEN HD are paying money that they didnt need too, most Tele shops are all ready using ONE HD to sell all-branded TVs.
And what about free-to-air viewers in Southern Cross 10 areas… when will we be getting One?
Thanks for the update David. Any chance you know what channel Number it will be. I was thinking of upgrading to the IQ2 for ONE HD but now I know the SD version is coming there’s no point.
Bloody hell it feels like I’ve been waiting about 30 years for this Optus satellite to go up!
Whenever I go past a shop that sells TVs there is One HD on it. IMO that is the best way to try and get people to upgrade. Like it or not, sport is a big part of Aussie culture.
Although, I won’t be assisting my 79 year old father with the transition to digital until right before analogue gets switched off. It was hard enough to try and explain DVDs to him!
lol, so how can they tune them down here in Tassie?
