Chased off screen…almost

Chris Taylor says he would be happy if he never had to appear on television again. Except he's on TV next week.

2Now that’s weird.

The Chaser’s Chris Taylor says he would be happy if he never had to appear on television again.

His comment follows the final episode which aired to nearly 1.5m viewers on Wednesday. Taylor also address the infamous Make-a-Realistic-Wish gag, with it’s closing remark “they’re going to die anyway.”

“But, it comes down to that last line and it was bad writing. It shouldn’t have been a part of it,” he concedes.

“I think if the last line was removed we would have gotten away with the sketch. We are all just very sorry we hurt people.

“We all agree and apologise – they shouldn’t have to tune into a comedy show and be reminded of that loss.”

In the show’s closing images, it included a shot of ABC executive Amanda Duthie, considered by many to have unnecessarily become the fall guy for the sketch. There was also a wry postcript, indicating Taylor had ‘died’ of cancer.

And here’s the weird part. As Taylor indicates he would be happy to stay off screen, he has Australia’s National Heritage List set to air on the ABC from next Thursday.

Thank you for mentioning that, i didn’t get that when it aired, im a little slow sometimes.

  2. They made an excellent point on the 7pm show last night:

why was the chaser banned for a week and the public went nuts over their “Make a Wish” gag, yet the same furor hasn’t erupted over the Kyle & Jakie 0 stunt that endangered the welfare of a 14 year old rape victim?

  3. you might catch something similar sometimes late nights on abc, they are more or less gap fillers (unless you’re paying attention) it’s straight presenting.

  4. A show that’s just 5 minutes long? Interesting. Any idea how many episodes this season has and if this show is shot with a comedic undertone?
