Naomi Robson, John Howard, Peter Costello, Malcolm Turnbull, Sheikh Hilali and even Amanda Duthie -they were all remembered in the swansong from The Chaser’s War on Everything.
Even that little old running gag lady in the shopping centre got a last look in.
The episode went out without controversy (well, so far…. there could yet be some religious complaints).
After 3.5 intermittent years the team took its leave from the War, with Chas Licciardello’s botox experiment, a final dig at security guards and innocent bystanders silly enough to take a group photo.
“For better or worse we hope to be back on your screens in the not too distant future, with a brand new type of show,” said Julian Morrow.
“If you’ve watched and enjoyed the show, thanks so much,” said Andrew Hansen. “To the other 19 million of you, screw you all.”

My comment of going out “with a whimper, not a bang” related in comparison to their past efforts of pushing the boundaries & creating “water cooler” talk next day at people’s workplaces like the children’s cancer or APEC stunt.
So in relation to their last episode, there has been no talk about it. No “did you see the Chasers last night!?” or “who would have thought they would do that?”
Nothing extraordinary for them to be remembered for from that last episode.
Now that’s certainly a whimper from a show that prided itself on generating heated discussion & divisiveness!
If CNNNN returns in another incantation; I’ll have to repair my recorder to read those hysterical underlines later – remember? Great job boys!
What exactly is the old lady in the shopping gag? I’ve seen it everywhere but I don’t actually know what it’s about.
1.4m viewers is a whimper?
I thought it was a pretty good final
though they could have gone out with a bigger bang
but it was still nice
can’t wait to see them back on our screens
They certainly went out with a whimper & not a bang.
Good riddance.
I loved the finale – they had some great stunts on it! They really should have made it an hour…
Fall back and regroup. These guys took a hell of a beating the past few months (their own fault really), and I don’t blame them for packing up the show and taking some time off.
Kev Don’t forget the fuddy duddy 3AW’s Neil Mitchell. He loves having a dig when he can!!!
If only it had ended a few years ago.
It was a pretty funny episode but in terms of a finale (and a series one, at that) it wasn’t that great, in my opinion. I wish it had been.
Maybe if they had an hour they would’ve made a more spectacular finale? If it was just gonna be the same then it doesn’t bother me…
@Alty: Agreed! Or the alternative Chas once wanted, FOXXXX.
They probably will do something like CNNNN, that was a vastly better version of what Ten’s extremely lame 7PM show tries doing , but they had lots of hassles from CNN, so whatever new incarnation any new show of theirs takes, it won’t have that name.
Last night had some great bits, but some other terrible bits – like @Adam said you can tell their hearts just aren’t in it anymore. we had some good times
So, no more Chaser. Who will Ray Hadley and Steve Price rant hysterically against now?
finale was very very lame unfortuantely. bring back CNNNN for a bit.
Great show last night.
I agree with you Steve, a pity it wasn’t an hour.
Loved the episode last night, and here’s hoping they are planning a return soon.
The finale was hilarious, pity it wasn’t a hour long.
The finale was pretty crappy, you can tell their heart isn’t in it anymore (because of all the bad coverage I guess)
