Sound Relief picked up an award at the Helpmann Awards last night. It won the Special Event award for the concerts broadcast on MAX and Channel [V] in March.
The events saw international and national music acts, including Coldplay, Kings of Leon, a re-formed Midnight Oil and The Presets appearing at simultaneous concerts in Sydney and Melbourne.
“I’m very proud of the Australian music industry,” said promoter Michael Chugg.
“We stood up when we needed to stand up.”
The event raised more than $8 million for bushfire and flood victims.
The Helpmanns aired last night on Biography.
