It was a little too good, or too bizarre, to be true.
Yes that New Zealand whale is getting his own series Beached Az.
But it will only appear as an interstitial. Each episode of the cheeky whale with the Kiwi accent will be just 60 – 90 seconds duration.
So that answers those questions about how the internet hit will open out to a series format…
Screening from 9:25pm Thursday September 10 on ABC2, it could be a case of blink and you miss it. It will have repeats on ABC1 later in October, but from today it is also viewable online at abc.net.au/beachedaz
It begins with the 90 seconds that made it famous in the first place.

I think we can all sigh of relief.
@PT Ryan – there is far more inherent humour than just the accents… And it was a Kiwi animation to begin with IIRC anyway…
I guess this will be like that crazy animated alien show SBS sometimes have as fillers between shows.
Maybe it’s just me, but a whole series premised on making fun of Kiwi accents just doesn’t tickle my funny bone… Still, I know a lot of people who love these shorts, so different strokes, etc, etc…
