Adam Richard quits 9AM

"It is with some regret that I have come to the decision that I can no longer continue in my role presenting celebrity gossip," says 9AM's Adam Richard.

adrComedian and entertainment reporter Adam Richard has announced on his website that he is quitting 9AM with David and Kim.

“It is with some regret that I have come to the decision that I can no longer continue in my role presenting celebrity gossip on the Network TEN morning program, 9am with David and Kim,” he wrote.

“I have enjoyed my time with the program, having been part of it since it began in January 2006. My role was severely reduced in June this year, due to budget constraints, and the experience has not really been as enjoyable ever since.”

Richard, who is part of FOX FM’s Matt & Jo Show, thanked producers, segment producers and hosts.

“I would also like to thank the hilarious David Reyne, who is nowhere near as curmudgeonly as he appears on television. (‘What is David really like?’ is the question I am asked more than any other when I meet people, and the answer is, as always, he’s delightful).

“Thanks also to the divine Kim Watkins, who has become a fantastic friend, enriching my life off-screen as well as on,” he said.

“It has been a great gig, an exciting and fun gig, and not one I will easily forget, but I think it is best that I leave before the laughter stops.”

Last month Reyne said he would leave at the end of the year, prompting TEN to consider a review of the show before deciding if it would go forward.

  2. If channel 10 are cost cutting, I’ll happily do the segment for $50 a day – I can be a bitchy queen & I know my entertainment goss!!!

  4. this is crap news!! first david and now adam! ten need to give 9am a better lead in if they expect it to make money!! adam’s segment was hilarious and was 1 i looked forward to every week!!

  7. Callas I think all breakfast radio people on Fox are told that they will be paid according to how many laughs they air. It is so fake and I think producers think we’re stupid.

  8. This is off topic, but does anyone know what Ten are doing with season 3 of the Dexter show that was posting poor ratings for them on Mondays. They said it’d be back 11.30 pm Saturdays, but lied as it hasn’t been shown at that timeslot. They’re still showing the crap Rock of Love cable reality show at that time.

  9. Adam was only on the show once a week on average anyway, but yes looking at 9AM’s abysmal national ratings it’s had for several years, even though the advertorials make Ten money, the ratings don’t justify keeping it on air.

  12. Seldom watch advertorial television and the appearance of Richard always made me skip past channel 10 a little faster when I stumbled across him. Always lingered a little longer, however, when the cute gent who presented the technology segment was on. Has he gone, too?

  13. Jumped before he was pushed? The writing is on the wall that the show will not be renewed next year.

    It is a pity. Like the show or not, it Is real, live TV with real, live Australians. I just hope it isn’t replaced with infomercials.

  17. good riddance to the bitchy queen !!.. the main reason i eventually stop listening to the matt and jo show was for his constant lound and obtrusive fake giggling (and i mean constant).
