Footy Show dumps Fevola segment?

Updated: Footage of Brendan Fevola could still appear in tonight's Footy Show finale despite admitting he drank "way too many" at the Brownlow.

fevUpdated: There is now a suggestion Nine will included some footage in the show tonight.

AFL footballer Brendan Fevola has had a Street Talk segment filmed at the Brownlow Medal dumped from tomorrow’s grand final edition of The Footy Show.

The Carlton player has been criticised by AFL Chief Andrew Demetriou after admitting he couldn’t remember anything that happened from towards the end of Monday’s Brownlow count through to the after-party.

On Triple M today he admitted, “I said to them yesterday I have absolutely no idea, so…I think you get like that when you have way too many..”

Yet on Monday night he filmed the Street Talk segment accompanied by a cameraman and sound assistant.

The Herald Sun today claims today he ‘did not hold back as he simulated sex for the cameras, puckered up for some unsuspecting WAGs and bystanders, and swore black and blue while interviewing players and guests.’

The Age notes onlookers said his loud and boisterous antics caused rolled eyes around the room.

Nine has confirmed today that Fevola would not be a panellist on the show, nor would his version of Street Talk appear.

A Channel Nine spokeswoman also would not confirm nor deny claims aired on 3AW today that Fevola had a physical altercation with a producer from The Footy Show.

“We’re not going to disclose what took place, or what didn’t take place,” she said.

“We’re worrying about this week. Anything beyond that will be reviewed at the end of our season, which is this week. (Fevola’s) future will be reviewed then.”

The Street Talk segment, usually hosted by Sam Newman, has previously been criticised for its choice in candidates from the general public. It regularly films at major events including the Brownlow Medal and the Logies.

  1. Are Carlton that desperate to win a flag that they will overlook once again unacceptable behaviour and leave Fevola’s actions at a fine only …… Heath Shaw and Alan Didak faced very harsh sanctions for their indiscretions and so has Barry Hall among others…. Waiting to see what Brett Ratten will do ?????

  2. If I remember correctly, Sam was banned from doing Street Talk ever again at the Brownlow after his past behaviour. That’s why someone else has had to do it the last few years.

  3. On the radio this morning they said there would be footage of Fevola’s antics – so channel 9 sack him but still get ratings leverage with the footage. Hypocrites.

  4. So he had a few to many at a “work do” and made a fool of himself. Gee who hasnt? Will miss him on the footy show tomorrow. Hope his edition of street talk ends up on you tube.

  5. @TheUglyBaby

He was meant to be working, as a presenter, on television – there’s no excuse for being this smashed with such responsibilities.

And most other players somehow managed to have enough respect for themselves, each other and for the Brownlow itself not to get totally tanked – and they *didn’t have on-air responsibilities…

  6. Questions need to be asked – who served him alcohol ?
Why don’t the Crown Casino and the AFL ban him from their events/premises ?
Why can’t this bloke learn from his many mistakes ?

  7. Since when it is a crime to get drunk?

People really need to lighten up, Brownlow night is for most players a chance to blow off some steam after a tough season.

Unless he was promoting binge drinking or said something obscene, there is no reason not to run the segment.

  8. I don’t watch the show, but is this the same racist idiot who was highlighted on Media Watch this week. That guy should be taken off air permanently for his outrageously racist comments.
