Hey Hey it’s …..Wednesday?

Hey Hey is officially moving nights to Wednesdays. No longer going head to head with Packed to the Rafters.

darylpluckaHey Hey it’s not Saturday on Tuesday is now Wednesdays!

Yep, the two reunion shows have switched nights.

The shows will now air on Wednesday September 30th and October 7th.

That puts them smack bang against the premieres of Celebrity MasterChef, NCIS: Los Angeles and Hungry Beast (amongst other regular shows).

It also moves the show away from Packed to the Rafters.

“I can’t begin to tell you what a thrill it’s been for me, personally, to work once more with so many of my old friends and colleagues,” said Daryl Somers.

“Putting together these two specials has been an absolute labour of love and an exciting challenge to rebuild the show from the ground up.

“We’ll have everybody’s favourite segments but presented in a fresh, contemporary manner. I can’t wait to get out there and deliver what our legion of fans has told us they want to see.

“Plus, expect to see a few surprises and new ideas that will catapult Hey Hey head-first into the new millennium.”

Nine still insists Molly Meldrum is part of the show, despite a report as late quoting his manager that Nine’s announcement was “premature” due to Foxtel having concerns over his inclusion.

The final line in Nine’s Press Release rather oddly notes, “And of course no Hey Hey reunion would be complete without everyone’s favourite feathered friend, Plucka Duck.”

Sorry bout that Ossie fans….

The television week of September 27th is officially bigger -and more complicated- than Ben Hur.

  1. I dont understand why they didnt put it on a Thursday. Once they finish the Footy Shows it would be the perfect replacement, because in essence it is the same kinda show. Live…. Light Entertainment…. and Nine are already winning the nights so it would have worked well

  2. Has anyone got any ideas of the ratings figures that 9 will be looking for to convince them to bring hey hey back next year. My guess wk1 1.8m up, wk2 1.5m up. What would happen to funny home videos a proven performer sat 6.30? Maybe hey hey could go back to 9.30.

  3. Agree with the comments about good move not going against PTTR but definitely not going up against CMC. Tuesday night makes more sense (out of the two) as Nine already generally has that Nine with light/comedy programs so it fits well with people that normally watch Nine that night – i.e. likely to get those viewers anyway plus hopely more being HHIS fans.

Any word on what’s happening with Money for Jam and the other shows normally on Nine. Are they just being held off for two weeks while these specials are on?

  4. Hey Hey is Saturday or weekend entertainment
Maybe even Sunday night – would certainly take people away from ten & Seven if they went from 6 -30 pm to 8.30Tuesday or Wednesday makes no sense.
Now Nine have to re progamme folks from Tues to Weds
One of these days programmers at Nine will find commonsense.
Can anyone here point them the right way ??

  5. Yep..agree with you David..the 2nd show will need something to hang its hat on..looks like now that Farnsy is part of it so might be what it needs.

Ernie Carroll is 80 now. Cant see him really wanting to do 5 hours of live TV perched on a stool.

Just one other thing. The promos are all about the “later-era” HHIS…Livinia, Plucka, Russell Gilbert etc etc. Surely they will find time for the Angel. Mrs McGillicuddy, Norman Neumann, Grotty at the Base..you know, the characters from Hey Hey when it really Was edgy, seat of the pants TV?? . The last years of the program were as planned, rehearsed (and often prerecorded) as any other tonight show

  6. Out of the boiler and into the frying pan. Moving away from Rafters was always a good idea, but up against Celebrity MasterChef, NCIS: Los Angeles and Hungry Beast makes just about the same amount of sense (none).

Guess that means Johnny Farnham will be on it then.

  7. from your story about Blackers

“At one of those shoots he did catch up with Ossie Ostrich, via his handler Ernie Carroll. For the reunion, Ossie is set to make ‘an appearance.’

“Ossie showed up at one of the photographic sessions, and as you know he lives in a case. I said to Ernie ‘Can we have a look at him?’ And there was little Ossie sitting there, with one eye looking up at us, all scrunched up. It was quite emotional actually.

“I said to Ernie, ‘Have you had him in the case all this time?’ and he said ‘Don’t forget I left the show 5 years before it finished.’ So he’s been in the case for 15 years and hasn’t changed a bit.”

So does that mean Ossie will be appearing or not? Maybe a pre record?
