Airdate: Hey Hey it’s 100 Years

Updated: Never mind the title, a newly-packaged Hey Hey special screens next Sunday.

A second Hey Hey it’s Saturday special, oddly titled as Hey Hey it’s 100 Years, will screen on Seven next weekend.

The Herald Sun reports it will screen on Easter Sunday in Melbourne and Adelaide -with other cities expected a week later.

Retro clips will include Kylie Minogue, Clint Eastwood, Tina Turner.

As previously revealed, Seven is planning other Hey Hey specials for later this year.

The outrageous new special showcases a cavalcade of stars who appeared on the original series of Hey Hey and features some of Daryl’s funniest memories from much-loved segments including Red Faces and Celebrity Head.

The television event features appearances from the original Wiggles, Delta Goodrem, Kate Ceberano, Lee Kernaghan, Tommy Emmanuel and plenty more.

Daryl will also present a special Hey Hey tribute to Shane Warne and The Amazing Johnathan.

The special is dedicated to the late, great Ernie Carroll aka “Ossie Ostrich”.

  1. I’m 42 and I loved Hey Hey when I was growing up. I understand the need to be sensitive towards all cultures, backgrounds and beliefs but let’s not forget to laugh and enjoy life. If you don’t like the humour then don’t watch the show. If there’s an audience for it then let those people enjoy it.

  2. No thanks. It reminded me of when Ernie Carroll retired and they brought in Livinia Nixon to replace him. I remember watching it and saying to my mother “who is this girl and why are they trying to turn her into a star?” It was the turning point and began the show’s decline and ultimately its axing

    1. Livinia wasn’t the first though. Ernie retired in 1994, and she didn’t appear until 1997. Maybe you’re thinking of Penne Denison in 1998. As it happens, Livinia became a Nine star, still working today.

  3. Hey Hey it’s 100 Years will likely do good numbers on Easter Sunday in Melb and Adel. It’s never been overly strong in the Syd, Bris market so will be interested to see how those numbers turn out the following week.
I’m a huge fan of Hey Hey so I’ll take what ever Hey Hey I can get but like I said last year on the announcement of Hey Hey we’re 50! the novelty will burn off quickly if it’s just a clip show. Need some solid new content/comedy among the nostalgia to bring people back for each following special.
I suspect the next two specials will be Hey Hey it’s 150 years and Hey Hey it’s 200 years.
