Returning: Supernatural. Bumped: Dexter

Here come Monday changes to TEN with Supernatural in and Dexter shoved to Saturdays.

s5More changes to Mondays from TEN, none of which are particularly surprising.

Supernatural is returning at 9:40pm Monday September 28th (and presumably later whenever GNW extends).

This fifth series, possibly its last (still undecided), has just aired in the US today.

That’s bad news for committed fans of Dexter, now bumped to 11:30pm Saturdays from October 4th. It stays put for two more weeks.

TEN shares your pain…I think.

UPDATED: Now out of schedule, sorry.

  1. Its about time Supernatural gets put forward, but unless it can air at the same time as the US I will still be watching it elsewhere, I don’t like having to wait and here everyone else talk about the episode from the US and Canada, so get it aired on the same day, and I will be an advid ten viewer for at least one show, as of now I do not watch any local channels for shows I want to keep up with, btw I am caught up with the states on NCIS too.

  2. I’m soo looking forward to the end chapter of Supernatural! Kripke’s got something special in store. I’m really going to miss the show if it doesn’t get a sixth season.

Pity Dexter is moving to such a terrible time slot. I’ll have to DVR it, most likely.

  3. Supernatural does better in the demos than Dexter, so I guess it makes sense. And 10.30 Fridays is occupied by quota qualifying Go Girls, so there is no room there. Dexter should have been returned to Sundays earlier in the year, well before the DVD was released. Looking forward to season four.

  4. Makes sense to bump back Dexter. The dvds are out and it’s already been on Foxtel, so it seems sort of stupid to have that on in a timeslot where they could put a new episodes of a show (that aren’t available elsewhere, except online)

I’m excited, because I didn’t think there was a chance of this happening. For once, I’m actually pleased with something channel 10 are doing.

Now if only we can get them to start ending GNW on time…

  5. This is the best news…. I had not even considered that we would see the new Season 5 Supernatural until January 2010 … I am one happy Supernatural fan. Thankyou so much TEN.

  6. Very disappointed. And I know I should be expecting this from Channel 10, but I honestly thought that I could trust them this time. I know Dexter is out on DVD, but I can’t afford to fork out for every series that I enjoy watching! And Dexter is a great show, but I don’t know if I’d want to watch it several times.

I’m still recovering from the fact that Channel 10 recently axed Out of the Blue. Why couldn’t they have put that in a crap timeslot instead???

  7. Didn’t see this coming, doesn’t mater as I’ll be watching new Supernatural tomorrow.

Seen Dexter months ago and already seen the first ep of the next season.

It’s a catch 22, if we want them at a decent time we need PayTV or other means to get the shows we want. I guess a 3 week delay is not bad.

  8. wow, really surprised they are fast-tracking supernatural, i didn’t think there was a chance in hell. i watch dexter too but i can still tape it in the new timeslot and since it aired ages ago on foxtel and is on dvd already it doesn’t make sense to air something that old in favour of something just a few weeks old.

  9. Are Ten stupid? Dexter has been rating the same as Supernatural, hovering around the 500k mark. The difference is Dexter is a unique, quality series while Supernatural fizzled out 3 years ago after they wrapped up the main plot with the yellow eyed demon. New season of SPN will not rate above 700k.

  10. This sucks, saturday is a crap night for Dex (he really is a nice boy, lol). Why can’t 10 run them both back to back on a big bad mother of a monday or friday instead of shuffling Dex to the arse end of the world. Watch out 10 programmers Dexter may find you and the boys of Super will bury you under a pile of salt if you keep stuffing them around, lol !

  11. I love dexter.. but really, it was bound to happen.. And i mean, it’s $35 odd from jbhifi on dvd.. and if you are really that committed to it, then you’d be happy to watch it twice.. EIther that, and set your dvr and stop complaining.. At least they are still letting it screen..

  12. Why am I not surprised. 11.30 Sat night! I am surprised it isnt 2.30am on alternate Wednesdays! They knew what this program is when they bought the rights to screen and then end up treating like crap. Shall we run a tipping pool on how long it lasts in its new home. Doesnt hold out much hope of seeing series 3 on Ten within this millenium then does it?

  13. Hardly think TEN has caved into fans…more a case of them destroying the excellent Dexter series and struggling to find something else for the timeslot.

    Keyser, expect Californication next year

  14. Is it the new Season of Supernatural screening on 10? Fast-tracking it would be a good idea…
Also, any word on if 10 will be fast-tracking Californication this year, like they did last year?

  15. Good to see Ten fast tracking. It may just be their saviour from an embarrassing ratings position. Problem with Dexter is it is already on DVD and been on cable, but at least they are leaving it on at some time for the fans on FTA who have not yet seen it. Better than just disappearing.

  16. Very glad to see Channel 10 “fast-tracking” Supernatural. Or at least their version of “fast-tracking” which isn’t that “fast”, but will have to do.

Shame about the bump for Dexter, but at least they haven’t taken it off air completely (yet).

  17. 11.30pm Saturdays is a god-awful timeslot.

Why not give it a Friday evening timeslot? 8.30 Fridays (would classification allow this?) It wouldn’t do any worse than anything else there. Hell even 10.30 Fridays is a better timeslot than 11.30pm on a Saturday; anyway Meh I have seen the series anyway. Waiting for Season 4 to air in the US….
