Lauren Graham joins Parenthood
Gilmore Girls' Lauren Graham will replace Maura Tierney in NBC's Parenthood.

Lauren Graham (Gilmore Girls) will join the cast of NBC’s Parenthood, in the role vacated by Maura Tierney.
Tierney was forced to drop out of the dramedy to undergo treatment for breast cancer.
Her illness caused the series to be delayed. It will now be held off until after the Winter Olympics.
Graham will play the character portrayed by Dianne Wiest in the original Ron Howard film. Helen Hunt’s name had also been floated as a possibility.
Howard is an executive producer on the NBC series.

I hope if 7 get this they fast track it.. I think it’s airing March 1st.. c’mon 7 if you do this I will actually watch your station for a whole hour a week, maybe 2 if you get heroes on..
Do we know when this is coming to Australian TV?
Could Parenthood with with Packed to the Rafters in 2010 (if Seven gets it) couldn’t imagine a better lead-in than the to local drama. Also they seem to be similar plots, whether that’s a good thing is any ones guess.
@ Nadine. Ten and Seven no longer have a joint Universal deal. Seven now exclusively have the Universal output deal, which will see it pick up Parenthood.
Dimitriak, it’s an NBC Universal production so that should send it to Ten, unless it goes to Seven.
I’ve been reading some of the fanforums and there are parts of the script posted, it sounds good but there is some coursing like the f word and drug references, will this fly on NBC without editing?
great choice, i’d rather lauren than helen even though helen might be more experienced and famous.
i think this show looks really good looks classy. i’m looking forward to it.

@Dino – while Seven is likely I don’t think it has been announced yet, mind you it would fit nicely with Brothers & Sisters for 2010. The Olympics end Feb 28 so this is likely to air March in the US with lots of promoting on the parent network (no pun intended) NBC since they also have the games.
I hope Seven can fast track it…

You don’t know how happy I am about this, with all due respect to Helen Hunt (and I like her work) I don’t think she was right for the part. And rumor has it she asked for too much for the part.
But this over shadows Maura and her breast cancer, I hope she gets better soon. I know Lauren and her are friends working on several things together including News Radio. Who knows if the shows a success maybe Maura can guest start at some point in the future?
