7TWO hopes for original content

Seven's Tim Worner says he would like to see original content on 7TWO "sooner rather than later."

7TWOChannel Seven is hoping to add original content to 7TWO in the future.

Tim Worner, director of programming and production, told Television Business International vision: “We’d like to get the business to a point where the production of original content for it was viable. I sincerely hope that happens sooner rather than later.”

At the moment original content on most digital channels is slight, although ABC2 has some new titles in production. 7TWO currently has The F Word with Matt Moran.

Worner admits new content won’t happen in the next six months.

“For us to have the chance to seed something on 7TWO and grow it to the point where it can cut it on the main channel would be ideal,” he adds.

  1. Slightly off topic I know, but one thing Channel 7 does really well is the tag they show at the start of each programme letting viewers know what is about to start on 7TWO. Beats me why all the other FTA channels cannot do the same.

  2. There has to be some factual or reality formats that can be done on smaller budgets that would be perfect for 7TWO.

I’m also surprised 7TWO don’t have any off-network Australian shows.

Border Security, The Force, All Saints, Blue Heelers, Airways even Packed to the Rafters would all do big numbers on 7TWO I’m sure.

At least bigger than things like Reaper.

  3. @Ryano, your spot on.

Seven need to make Friday night AFL football live. Its like Seven have paid for the right to stay in the 1990s. Now there is multiple channels there is no excuse.

And Seven need ot get there act together and make a football show to rival the AFL footy show on Nine. The major problem with Seven is they have too many boring people and are afraid to say what they really think. Currency Sam Newman is King of Australian entertainment whether you like him or not.

  4. Please people keep on complaining about Prime not having 7Two,
tv exec’s do visit this site, dont listen to the nay sayers, change only happens if you speak loud long and hard.

  5. @john

I’m actually a Melbournian, not a Sydney sider and I didn’t say Prime viewers can’t have there say and a whinge, but in every 7two comment section over the last couple of weeks, time after time all you hear is that “well if only the showed it on Prime” or “damm prime making me miss my favourite programs”.

There’s only soo many times you can read the same thing before it gets repeatitive. Saying the same thing over and over on a fan forum isn’t going to change a thing? Instead accept that Prime will be rolled out when the Prime is ready to air 7two.

  6. @dave. So what just cause we are stuck with prime . Doesn;t mean we haven’t got the right to comment. Typical sydney sider attitude. I’m alright so bugger everyone else. But O no heaven forbid if you are dissadvantage in even the slightest way. Then you spread your outrage all over the internet.

  7. this channel will just be gloged up with better homes and gardens reruns or some other renovation type shows which are Yawwwnnn
If ya want my two cents. Put those shows that gain a small following over the summer months but soon dissapears assoon as the rating periods return. I always seem to enjoy those shows more than their main line up. Or use it to experiment with new types of shows all togther.

  8. Better Homes and Gardens on 7TWO and Australian Football League Friday Nights @ 7.30pm on 7 would be amazing.
I would actually respect channel 7 for doing this and not avoid all non-AFL programming on 7 at all costs, as I do now.

  9. @ Ben & Angry Face.

Readers of tvtonight understand that Prime doesn’t show 7two. It doesn’t mean that you have to comment about it on Every news story involving the network!!

  10. i think we can accept that there will be nothing spectacular on 7two. but there is no doubt that low cost shows can rate very well.

7 have an embarrasment of riches with high rating cheap factuals i’d like to see some of them make it to 7two that would otherwise be axed. how much could medical emergency, highway patrol, crash investigation unit, outback wildlife rescue, etc possibly cost? 7 could have first run aussie factuals in 7:30 slots almost every night of the year between 7two and 7, and then have comedies/reality on the opposite channel. imagine how good they would be doing.

i’d also like to see a cheap news panel/debate show as a 7two 40 week tentpole in one timeslot. maybe thurs 7:30, for the whole year. they did similar things with 7HD so surely it couldn’t be a total impossibility.

  11. It’d be good to have some more original content on multichannels. At the moment GO doesn’t have anything unless you count the Aria Chart Show, and ABC 2 and One HD both have a few shows each. 7 Two and ABC 3 will benefit from leading the pack with some more original content.

  12. Bring back TV Burp. Perfect for 7TWO.

Also if they are struggling for content why not let the public pitch or make a pilot for 7TWO. Play the top ones over 10 weeks and the winner gets made into a new series.

Can’t be any worse or less original than what is out there at the moment… i.e Cops. LAC

  13. David – here is a suggestion to pass on – put new episodes of top rating better homes and gardens onto 7Two, which in turn would mean Friday night AFL could be on at 7:30pm rather than 8:30.

This would be win-win – push BH&G viewers to 7Two, and give football fans what they would prefer.

Obviously NSW and Qld may need alternative viewing, but dont they have that now anyway?

  14. That’s to complain I’m hearing from friends and family, yes it’s nice to see the old shows again but is it worth it to have all these old shows on FTA when they can’t even manage to keep relatively new shows like Weeds and CYE on.

Why don’t they use the 2nd SD like ABC does and have encore airing’s of the some top shows from the main channel the next night on GO! and 7TWO?
