Gone: Weeds, Curb Your Enthusiasm, South Park

Here come Sunday night movies on GO! as we race to the end of the ratings year.

ldMore changes to GO! this time for Sunday night.

The movie The Matrix Revolutions will screen from 8:30pm in their place, with more movies expected over the following two Sundays as we race to the finish line of the ratings year.

As a result, South Park, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Weeds are not expected to return until December.

We’re seeing quite a few changes on Nine / GO! right now. Could it be the tight race for demographics between Nine / GO! and Seven / 7TWO has some television execs on a knife-edge? Between the main channels it’s not so line-ball. Thanks to digital channels there will be a lot of rewriting of the rule-book and hyperbole when this survey year is out.

Mars Attacks, originally slated for late Saturday night on Nine, will now screen at 11pm Sunday on GO! in place of Bad Eggs.

On Nine it is replaced by The Curse of the Jade Scorpion.

  1. Is anyone truly surprised by this though?
Weeds is my fave show of recent times – season 3 dvd is currently available for reduced price for those who haven’t picked it up/ downloaded already

  2. 9 sure enjoys treating the fans of their (few) quality shows with utter contempt.

They’re going to pull Weeds when its so close to the end of season?? A__holes.

  3. An ad just came up for Sundays on go! with big bang theory, south park and weeds.

and it said go nuts Sundays on go!

Well I am going nuts !!!! cos the ad is on, yet they are supposedly not on now. Well south park and weeds I am referring to.

  4. So we wait three years for “No!” to show season three of Weeds, and they still get shafted. Great way to treat your viewers Nine.

I hope Seven / 7two win every week for the rest of the rating year.

  5. Ridiculous – guess what Nine? I watch (or should I say, Used to watch) Without a Trace *and* Weeds. I tried to watch Fringe when it was on FTA, but I could never find where you hid it, and gave up! There is now One show left on Nine that I watch – Big Bang Theory on Mondays. How about you remove that one too, and then I can delete ‘Go’ and “Nine” from my set top box entirely!

  6. It’s not about the viewers these days. It’s not even about attracting advertisers through loyal viewerships and demographics.

It’s about which channel “wins” out of Seven and Nine.

I wouldn’t at all be surprised if they resort to glassing each other next year. It’s pathetic.

  7. And i throught the FTA networks wanted to compete against foxtel, well Go!s changing Schedules not going to get any viewers, over time i think GO! will change alot and will just become another 9 network

  8. Nine/GOne! is clearly more interested in Quantity of audience share, over Quality of Shows and loyal viewership. They are never going to sustain large audiences by chopping and changing the schedule constantly. Honestly they’re business plan must be so short sighted.

  9. well, 7TWO have gone for movies on sunday nights. now GO is but what they Should have done was, instead of taking them off all together just move sunday nights shows to Saturday nights making that comedy night. but have the shows for 30 mins only, none of this double episode stuff. there are so many double and triple episodes on GO!

they should have it like this –

    7:30 – Frasier, 8:00 – Big Bang, 8:30 – South Park, 9:00 – Seinfeld 9:30 – Curb,
    10:00 – Weeds, 10:30 – Reno, 11:00 – Father Of The Pride, 11:30 – movie.

or something like it, then GO can do what 7TWO are doing and play movies from
7:30 onwards or even at 6:30, put a family movie on that time and go from there.

  10. Nine and Go are probably two of the most disorganised stations ever. If this is a ratings decision then I say wasn’t the point of Go to show low rating shows?

I believe the reason Two and half men rates so well is because it is the only consistently shown show on Nine.

  11. Honestly don’t these idiots ever learn!

Sunday night was their best night. I especially love Curb. Also love Weeds but had seen this series and was eagerly awaiting the next series, but if they are going to start moving stuff around willy nilly like ch 9 i will just buy the dvd or watch it elsewhere! If you keep this up Go i will begin to despise you like i do Ch 9, and i won’t watch anything on there whether is good or not!

Well i definitely won’t be watching Go this Sunday night. What a stupid choice Matrix Revolutions is, anyone who wants to see this movie already has or has it on DVD why would they watch it interrupted with adds and with Go’s crappy sound! It will be interesting to see if Rove ratings go up this week and hopefully Go’s go down!

    Not Happy!

  12. WTF, Curb and Weeds were almost finished their seasons!!

so Nine couldn’t wait a few weeks before end of ratings to show movies?

they should be focusing on the main channel, not GO!

    whats next –

    Gone: The GO Channel

  13. Why? Go has the biggest share of any multi channel ever on Sunday nights. Why change it? Copying 7TWO with movies? Guides wrong now? Annoyed fans? GO for too many changes. Can only help 7TWO win.

  14. sheesh, they stuffed around on it’s main channel with these 2 shows, how can they remove them from the 2nd channel also? Man, if nine had a 3rd channel, I wonder how long shows like these would last also? I guess they are looking for other avenues to air 20-1, 2 men and even more csi, coming soon to go!
Nine programmers= bunch of morons who have no idea about programming.

  15. Crazy- nine makes me so Angry sometimes – (more like The Majority of the Time)
there were only 3 episodes left of Weeds in this season,
and given they were showing 2 episodes per week they could have wrapped this season up on Sunday by adding an extra episode
then they can do whatever they want – show whatever old movie or change the line-up completely
    – it’s funny because i was becoming happier with Nine/GO recently because they were finally allowing their program guide to be displayed on my SD Set Top Box – so I could know what programs were on their two channels. before that we had no idea what was on
    – do they want people to watch TV anymore, or just bypass the networks and buy the DVD box set??
