jevThis weekend contestants from 13 countries will compete in the 7th running of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in the city of Kyiv, Ukraine.

The Kyiv Palace of Sports, home of the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest, will again take centre stage with up to 6,000 people. It’s been home to concerts for Deep Purple, A-Ha, Jamiroquai, Moby, Muse, Christina Aguilera and Lenny Kravitz.

The 13 competing nations are: Sweden, Russia, Armenia, Romani, Serbia, Georgia, The Netherlands, Cyprus, Malta, Ukraine, Belgium, Belarus, F.Y.R. Macedonia. Looks like the UK gave up on winning that one too.

If you’re dead keen on seeing this, it probably won’t air on SBS until 2010 so in the meantime you can check out more info at the show’s official site.

Here’s a selection of entrants:

  1. young talent time with a crystal meth addiction is the best way to describe this…I love Eurovision with all my heart but can barely sit through 10 minutes of this…

  2. it’s nowhere near as much fun as proper ESC but SBS could do a lot better than delaying it to air by six months like they did last year. There were a few years in the past they showed it on Boxing Day or New Year’s Day which after a heavy day/night beforehand it can be good veg-out TV! C’mon SBS even if it means chucking it on SBS2!
