Merrick and Rosso ending radio gig

Updated: Their radio show is winding up but the comedy duo deny any split and don't rule out working together outside of Nova.

merrick and rossoComedy Channel duo Merrick and Rosso will finish their Nova radio show in Sydney next month after reports Tim Ross has opted not to re-sign with the station.

Both have been part of Nova since 2001, joined by Kate Ritchie in 2008.

The Daily Telegraph reports that Ross made his decision to leave following a “turbulent” meeting with network management last Friday. He is said to been keen to pursue other projects.

The duo, who have fronted several shows on television, hosted their latest series The Merrick and Rosso Show for the Comedy Channel earlier this year. Merrick Watts has also appeared on Underbelly, Thank God You’re Here and The Hollowmen.

The Merrick and Rosso Show has been one of the Comedy Channel’s most popular shows.

Updated: According to ABC Online the two have not had a split.

“This is not the end of Merrick and Rosso – it’s the end of me being part of Nova 969 and the breakfast show,” Rosso said.

Watts wanted to assure fans he and Ross had not had a fight.

“This has nothing to do with Rosso and I not liking each other,” he said.

“No fights, there’s no carry on, there’s nothing like that. Sometimes things just come to an end.

“So as much as it hurts both of us and a lot of people around us, it is what it is.

“I love you like a brother mate, and you know that,” Watts said to Ross.

  1. Kate Richie is just not funny, why the hell was she even on the show. Stick to Home & Away darlin or the soon, no doubt, hostess to be of a myriad of reality/travel/cooking shows.

Bad actor, not funny in any way, that equals a prefect replacement for Jen Hawkins/Natalie Grunlen (whatever her name is) etc etc on all those shows. Bimbos without a shred of talent.

  2. Could not be more pleased. It sounded like they gave up caring about three years ago and they have become bitter, unfunny people. I won’t miss the not-so-subtle bigoted “humour”, either.

  3. At least Kate Ritchie was a million times better than the Sami Lukas years. Dear god, that idiotic bimbo turned me straight off the show with her moronic comments – she was just a waste of space that made the show painful to listen to.

Will be interesting to see what they do with Merrick next year…?

  4. Yeh I bet after they were forced to take on a 3rd, that the show took a turn for the worst. Always happens. I hope H&A never drastically change their formular.
I wonder what will happen to kate ritche now?

  5. Disappointing, but in my opinion, the show has gone downhill since Kate Ritchie joined them last year.

Of course there were rumours of them ending their Nova morning shift about three years ago, but they kept going.
