Orange carpet rollout

Ready for the squealing hordes -workmen put down the finishing touches for the 2009 Kids' Choice Awards.

KCA09Workmen put down the finishing touches yesterday at Melbourne’s Hisense Arena for today’s 2009 Kids’ Choice Awards.

Once again squealing hordes will descend upon barricades in an effort to get close to their favourite television, music and sports stars.

The sellout event, the seventh to be staged in Australia, has attracted an impressive line-up, including Rove McManus, Short Stack, Bindi and Robert Irwin, Rachael Finch, Vanessa Amorosi, Josh Thomas, WWE Diva Eve, WWE Superstar Edge, Poh Ling Yeoh, Julie Goodwin, Kyle Linahan, Angus McLaren, Cariba Heine, Sam Clark, Margot Robbie, Peter Helliar, Nat and Alex Wolff (Naked Brothers Band), MTV’s Ruby Rose, Nickelodeon’s Dash and Will and Luke and Wyatt, Ed Kavalee, Shaun Micallef, Dean Geyer, Andrew Gunsberg, Nacho Pop and James Sorensen.

Organisers have mounted a huge stage with an onstage colosseum fitted for 300 kids. Even the Green Room has been madeover to live up to its colourful title.

The Orange Carpet arrivals start at 3:30pm and the show, hosted by Delta Goodrem plus Benji and Joel Madden, begins at 6pm. It screens delayed tonight at 7pm on Nickelodeon.

iCarly‘s Miranda Cosgrove is Special Guest Star. Guy Sebastian, Jessica Mauboy and Cassie Davis will all perform.

  1. Well, I’d say, it’s on it’s way, after all Nick’s coming up in 2010 promos (which first screened during the KCA’s), are using a version of the US relaunch theme, mixed in with the 2009 promo style. I am all for a return to Nick Oz using the US ID’s again, although with a local spin…

My favorite oldschool Nick ID has to be with those performing dogs, which also featured on Sesame Street…

  2. I hope this is the last time we see the splat. The most logical dates to do the logo change is either tonight after the KCA’s, Sunday (to tie in with the D3 channels launch), December 1, to beat ABC3 to the punch or even January 1, to celebrate 15 years of Nick down under.

I’d be surprised, if Nick didn’t try to lure Tiger Woods to hand out at least one award (Fave Sports Star perhaps), after all, Tiger would get the loudest pop of the night…
