Russell T. Davies has confirmed that a fourth series of Torchwood is likely to come in January.
Speaking to TV Guide Magazine he said, “The recession has hit British television, but fingers crossed, it will be a go,” he stated. “We expect things to start to move in January.
“We’ve got great ideas for the show. I think there’s a further lease on life for many years to come, but certainly for a [fourth season].”
Davies previously said of a possible fourth series: “I could write you scene one of series four right now. I know exactly how to pick it up.
Doctor Who: The Waters of Mars airs in the UK today and on ABC1 on December 6th. Torchwood: Children of Earth gets an airing on ABC2 in early January.

I have watched every episode of TW and hope they dont make any more. I have loved the show but the last series was so final that I can’t take any more. I’m over it
@zac I won’t deny it was dramatic, but it kinda crushed me. I won’t be able to take cheeky Jack again.
I actually would have been happy with it to finish after Children Of Earth (I actually thought that was the end). I can’t really see a way of it continuing but if Davies thinks it’s possible, I’ll give it a go.
@Kfred – Jack unredeemable? I agree it’s not something that can be glossed over but it was a decision he was forced into as the consequences would have been far worse and completely unredeemable.
I can’t remember the last time a sci-fi show painted such a chilling sense of danger and emotion. If they can keep it up to that standard I hope it goes on for many more years.
How rare for a show’s writers to be able to push their characters as much as Davies has with Torchwood. Truly special television this is.
Just a pity that they made Jack pretty much unredeemable in the last episode. I can’t think of a single moment in a show that has made me suddenly hate it so much.
Will Captain Jack still be in it ?
If Channel 10 hadn’t picked up Torchwood initially, and the ABC had instead, I am sure we would have seen all of Series 2 and 3 now.
Interesting to see who’ll join the cast…
maybe there’ll be some better acting… 🙂

Great time for the Who world with new Doctor Who and Torchwood both on ABC, where they belong. Thank God Nine haven’t snatched them up!
Can’t wait to see Waters of Mars.
