Denise Drysdale, Chrissie Swan, Yumi Stynes and Gorgi Coghlan will front TEN’s new morning show, The Circle.

The weekday show will air live at 10-12am weekdays following a one hour news service, beginning Tuesday February 9th.

As first revealed by TV Tonight in early December, the female panel show is being produced by former Hey Hey its Saturday producer, Pam Barnes.

Filmed in front of a studio audience, The Circle will feature a fifth guest panellist will join the 4 women each day. The show will incorporate email, Skype, live crosses, studio audience comments and even ‘old fashioned phone calls.’

TEN’s chief programming officer, David Mott said: “I’m delighted to welcome Chrissie, Yumi, Gorgi and Denise to the TEN stable. Smart and bold, each of these women bring a unique set of experiences to The Circle and I’m certain Australian audiences will embrace their warmth and vibrant sense of fun.”

Producer Pam Barnes said: “I’m thrilled to be a part of this exciting new show. All the issues that affect our busy lifestyles will be addressed daily on The Circle by four great women who will share what’s going on in their lives and yours.”

The Circle follows the end of 9AM with David and Kim after four years, but retains the network’s advertorial revenue.

TEN News which currently screens at 11am will move to 9am as part of the new line-up.

  1. The News at 9 is great, at least there is a good option for that time now.. I’ll be watching. I love Natarsha Belling!
I hope the Circle works, the cast is great, hopefully there won’t be too many advertorials to ruin it.

  2. Seems Aaron is the only one who remembers this was already attempted and failed.

Who wants to see a bunch of hens squawking over each other?

Any other network I’d give this show a week, but TEN have trouble aborting failures like 7PM Project, so I’ll give this mess a couple of months.

  3. @ Kenny – Totally agree with your comments regarding the constant interruption’s between the panel members on this type of show. The 7pm project really annoys me so I think I will give this one a miss too.
It’s all been done before anyway…..

  4. @janey: no offence to women but you love to talk about sh*t! as in nothing subjects, im sure alot of males will tune in to hear 5 women bullsh*t to eachother, there isnt even a hottie in there! one reason for men to watch would be a hot woman like kim watkins.

  5. I agree with ryan (except for the part about watching The Morning Show). 9am was a show appealing to all age groups and sexes and this isn’t. Women can discuss a broad range of subjects that can cater for all age groups and sexes, but it’s clearly a show for (predominantly) women, by women. Expect to lose a substantial portion of viewers.

  6. What I hate about this type of program is the constant interruption of what someone’s saying and everyone talking at once. They’re not going to try to caption this are they?

  7. If this is in the same studio as 9am, then there isn’t much space for an audience, unless by studio audience they mean placing out a few plastic chairs for the odd wanderer.

It’s different to the competition, but I can’t see this working.

  8. Will be interesting to see how the news goes in the 9am position.

There’s almost no point to a news channel (on weekdays), when all you need to do is channel hop between 5:00am till 12:30pm and from 4:30pm till 7:30pm with various late news shows between 9pm and midnightish. Anything you miss in between those times, simply look it up online.

In saying that, it would be good to have a 24hr news service on FTA for convenience.

  9. Sounds like the ill fated locally produced chat show aimed at women ‘The Catch Up’ which failed on Channel 9. Will be interesting to see if this program will be more successful.

  10. This is interesting, makes me thing of the view.

Putting the news at 9 is even more interesting. Looks like I’ll be watching that instead of the other two morning shows on 7/9

  11. @ ryan
Just because it’s hosted by women, doesn’t mean that only women can watch it! Women can discuss a broad range of subjects that can cater for all age groups and sexes, just like men can.

  12. so we went from a show to cater for all ages groups and sexes to a show which caters just for women! Well looks like i’ll be watching the morning show from now on.

  13. Gorgi Coghlan (formerly Gorgi Quill) co-hosting The Circle is a huge coup for Ten and a blow for Nine, as she had been a reporter for Today show and various programs for Nine before.
