Fighting over the same carcasses

Which story from which website appears in a metro newspaper today without any attribution?

In entertainment news it’s reasonable to expect that journos at some point or another will all be fighting over the same carcasses.

It’s best done with a point of difference either in fact or opinion.

So it is with some interest today that a story on Australian Idol producers shifting to Australia’s Got Talent appears in one metro daily newspaper today -after it was published by TV Tonight yesterday.

No attribution. No advancing of the story. No name of the journo. Not even asking for a quote for the story.

…..thanks for that.

Coincidence? You decide.

Yesterday’s story was also picked up by MediaWeek and FOX FM both kindly acknowledging the source.

The recent exclusive on Kevin Rudd joining Sunrise was another scoop that gained wider press with select attribution (thanks to The Age, Crikey and Mumbrella).

See this here? It’s called a link.

  1. That is unfair and unprofessional to have left your story out as the original source. Keep up the great work, your website is truely one of a kind, particularly for the Aussie audience!

  2. The story was written by an idiot. Trying to make it seem as if the future of Idol is still hanging in the balance for 2010, rather than over, is misleading.

  3. Hang in there David.

TV Tonight has made its mark on entertainment journalism in such a short period of time, and it takes a lot of hard work to build sources, and a sense of trust with those sources.

I can understand how disappointing it must be when that hard work goes unatttributed by some outlets.
