Returning: Scrubs

The new series of Scrubs, now set in medical school, returns to Seven next Sunday night.

The new series of Scrubs, now set in medical school, returns to Seven next Sunday night at the new time of 10:30pm.

It sees J.D., Turk, Drs. Cox and Kelso and Intern Denise return to Sacred Heart to teach med school, with a new bunch of med students who are put through the ringer on their first day of school.

Set one year after the finale of Season 8, just two original cast members will be regulars on the show: Donald Faison as Christopher Turk, and John C. McGinley as Perry Cox.

Zach Braff appears in the first five eps.

And after 8 seasons of episodes with titles beginning with the word “My” it now shifts to “Our,” starting with “Our First Day of School.”

  1. It gets stronger during the season. I wasn’t sure what it would be like after Zach Braff left, but it actually improved, the new characters get their chance to grow and there’s still plenty of fun from Kelso, The Todd, etc.

Sure, it’s not going to go down as the best season of Scrubs – and it probably wouldn’t last in a cut-throat 8pm timeslot – but I still prefer it to every other sitcom currently on the air…

  2. it’s a let down to say the least over what has been a great show for so many years. its obvious that these episodes were only made so that the show would make syndication and the production team couldn’t care less about the content. but that’s how the business works.

i rekon even at 10:30 the ratings won’t be good enough and it will get bumped to 11:30 for a castle repeat.

  3. Not happy about the timeslot but it might work for those of us who don’t have to work 9-5 the following day why not a User Friendly Timeslot like a 8:30pm Tuesdays till Packed to the Rafters Returns or use it as a lead in to Family Guy on a Thursday. It is only too late for most of us.

  4. I think the reason it is going to be on so late is because of the large rating decline from a 2.0 to about roughly 1.2 in the demo over in the US as well as the changes which judging by their ratings clearly hasn’t worked. While it outrated HIMYM here it didn’t go up against Masterchef and Two and Half Men only Recruits and some factuals over on 9 like.

  5. Why couldn’t Channel 7 keep these saved up for when Cougar Town fails and they need a replacement @ 8:30pm Thursdays?? 10:30pm Sunday isn’t the time that Scrubs deserves…

  6. Are they kidding, late night on Sunday! Why bother?

While it’s debatable whether it should have been over last season (as they planned) it’s a welcome return. A little different but I think the show is still good and has the same vibe.
