50 Years of ABC Adelaide

ABS Channel 2 Adelaide recently celebrated its 50th anniversary, so here's a clip to commemorate its achievement.

ABS Channel 2 Adelaide recently celebrated its 50th anniversary.

The channel was launched on 11th March 1960 in Collinswood.

So here’s a quaint clip that looks back on Studio 51 and the broadcaster, with some clips of classics including (the legendary) Professor Julius Sumner Miller, Clive Hale, Bob Moore, Kay Withers and more.

In the half century following its creation, the ABC’s Adelaide television studios broadcast in colour in 1975, tripled with the advent of digital television and ABC 1, ABC 2 and ABC 3, soon to be joined by a 24/7 news channel.

  1. As a non-Adelaide viewer still in his 20s, I really enjoyed that video. They loved their British-sounding voices, didn’t they? I might be wrong, but I don’t think ABS2 provide any national programming? Just their local 7pm news & Stateline?
