Australia now has a Code of Practice for the reporting of sporting events.
The Code of Practice outlines the rights and obligations of sporting and media organisations for access to sporting venues, and the collection and reporting of sports news.
Graeme Samuel, Chair of the ACCC, has held roundtable meetings with the major media and sporting organisations and Kevan Gosper, former Vice-President of the International Olympic Committee, has been appointed as the inaugural chairman of the Code Administration Committee.
Senator Stephen Conroy said, “There have been issues between some sporting and media organisations and several media agencies have been unable to gain access to major sporting events for the purpose of reporting the news.
“The Government was concerned that these breakdowns in communication would adversely affect the Australian public’s traditional access to news reporting of sporting events.”
Under the Code “Sports Organisations will not discriminate between Media Organisations on the basis of their distribution platform,” while “Media Organisations will ensure that the frequency of updates from the Venue is reasonable for the purpose of News Reporting and does not approximate live or continuous coverage for the duration or a substantial period of the Event.”

Someone simplify this for the dummies that cannot understand all this
The less i know about any of those sports the better.
It’s good that a code of practice has finally come into place. In the past 3 seasons, foreign news agencies boycotted test and one-day matches held in Australia due to rights issues with Cricket Australia. So, unless you had internet access, overseas people wouldn’t have known the match scores and how the matches unravelled.
