  1. As Damo said this is crucial for ONE because during the summer their lineup is particularly weak. Their strengths are Formula One (and other racing) and AFL. Those only run from March onwards so they really need something to tide them over. NFL and NBA was about the only things they had.

  2. This is brilliant news; its one thing that makes me wish I had subscription TV.

    Go TEN!

I’d like to see the big games on TEN i.e. Friday night games (which should do ok; no worse than the 400 k that tune in now) but keep majority of them on ONE.

  3. Not a big fan of basketball. But I think this a really good boost for the NBL. The Wildcats have really gained a lot of support and the grandfinal sold out in 30 mins. Imagine the ratings Channel 10/ONE would get if they aired the game live.

  4. The NBL has confirmed the deal with Ten on the official website, adding Ten and ONE will cover two matches per week initially, eventually expanding to 5 games per week by the 2014/15 season.

  5. So, Ten/One has the NBL. I hope they do better with it than the first time.

Before Ten got the NBL, Seven had made the NBL into a brand alongside the AFL, and here in Perth a Wildcats game was prime time viewing, there was a waiting list for memberships as they played to 10,000 every home game. Then Ten got it, and along with the NBL moving the season to summer (Their Biggest mistake) screwed the NBL viewer base to the point where Ten showed the games, even the finals, at midnight!

    Ten/One get two games a week. Its a start…a rebirth…time will tell!

  6. Now if only a proper Brisbane side returns to the NBL. I don’t care if it’s either one of the NQ teams moving to Brisbane, GC Blaze becoming the Brisbane Blaze, or even a revival of the Brisbane Bullets (extending QLD back to 4 teams, with the retro 80’s logo), the NBL won’t truly be back until a Brisbane team is back on court.

  7. Was watching ONE just before and there was a scroll across the bottom of the screen saying they have the NBL, starting october 2010!

This is great news. Although the NBL is a joke, hope this gives it more exposure, resulting in more money and better investment in it. Every town has junior and senior basketball yet the national league is a joke – lets hope this changes it. Looking forward to it!

  8. Well talk about loyalty for you.

When no one else was even interested in the NBL, Fox Sports took the punt and showed what essentially for many years was an unpopular sport. Now suddenly because there is a new found interest the NBL is once again sucking up to TEN.

When ratings come down again and TEN moves games to midnight and 3am before dumping them, guess who will go knocking on Fox Sports door with cup in hand.

  9. on the slide true but local and cheap is what Ten need to build up the content until itcan afford major sports. Nicely complimenting NBA and NCAA and even Netcall as WNBL is on ABC. Also with Sydney returning must have swayed Ten to invest ands it wouldn;t be expensive with the dopes running NBL even now

  10. Half the teams in the comp can’t get ONE at the moment. The deal will be good in the future, but I’m sure there’ll be some discontent when it first gets off the ground

Then again, glad it’s back on FTA

  11. NBL is on it’s way back. Great move by Ten/One. NBL will go down well on Friday nights, perhaps on Ten itself, and I reckon Wednesday nights on One HD.

  12. If the deal is confirmed, that will mark the first time in a decade that NBL is shown on Ten. Ten had covered NBL in the 1990s when basketball’s popularity was at its peak. At one stage, Ten was covering three Friday night games (on replay) in different cities, something that could have been done today with ONE.

  13. This is a quality acquisition for ONE/Ten. I think it will rate surprisingly well during the summer time when their is a real lack of quality/live content on ONE.

I’m sure Steve Carfino will be rapt as well after being let go by Fox Sports.

  14. fetch tv won’t get any australian sports content because it’s internet based broadcaster. 10 have just got a competition that has been on the slide for many years
