Lisa wins The Biggest Loser 2010

Lisa Hose becomes the first-ever female Biggest Loser winner, as TEN announces a new series looking for families of 4.

Lisa Hose has won The Biggest Loser 2010.

She lost 56.2kgs, 46.10% of her body weight beating Joe who lost 82.7kgs, 45.97% of his body weight.

41yo Lisa from Perth won $370,000 for her efforts and the title of the first ever female Biggest Loser. As the bearer of the special “Double” bracelet, she takes home twice the cash kitty set at $185,000.

Joining them in the final four were Shannon and Wayne.

Final weigh-ins were:

Lisa lost 56.2kg (46.10%).
Joe lost 82.7kgs (45.97%)
Shannon lost 89.6kg (41.81%).
Wayne lost 62.8kg (38.89%).

The finale also celebrated previous winners and contestants Adro, Tracy, Courtney, Sean, Alison, Sam, Meaghan, Sami, Sharif and Bob.

This season started in controversy after one team was withdrawn from the production prior to the show airing, resulting in drastic editing by producers.

New host, the sometimes tearful Hayley Lewis won viewer support for her empathy with contestants, but hasn’t managed to shift the role of a Biggest Loser host from their dependence on an autocue.

The show also had its health critics this year, who questioned the show’s demands on contestants. Some contestants had to withdraw from challenges following medical advice. Another was hospitalised and left the contest entirely. Much attention was directed at the show’s punishing 42km marathon, along with questions about whether weekly weigh-ins fairly represented how much contestants had lost in 7 days.

The show also had its own challenges with a new timeslot. Following The 7PM Project the show was said to be impacted by its lead-in.

But the show has been one of TEN’s tentpole productions and Shine Australia, which resumes the rights from FremantleMedia Australia, has faith in re-energising it for 2011.

TEN has already announced auditions for a Family version of The Biggest Loser, calling on teams of families of 4.

  1. This show really makes me sad and no I don’t watch it, it breaks my heart to see losing weight turned into a contest. I really hope that the show inspires more than a few to lose weight but after 4 or 5 years of the show I haven’t seen to much of a change on the streets. I am happy the contestants have lost the weight and won the fame but how do we stop the population from getting fatter ?

  2. I thought it was a pretty good season – really thrilled that Lisa won! Some great stories and characters this year. I do not agree that Hayley relied on the autocue. Other than her role as host, she was far more interactive with the participants and showed great heart and warmth right through the series. I hope the finale was a boost for 10.

  3. This is the second year in a row a contestant from WA won the Biggest Loser (Bob Herdsman won last year’s edition with his daughter Tiffany second). Congrats Lisa. Strangely this has not been picked up by any of three newspaper websites in WA so far.

  4. Good, but not great season of the show. Great result(s) at the finale weigh in though. I’m not 100% on what it was, be it the “edit” job that they did for the first couple of episodes, the couples cast (didn’t have the same shine as contestants over previous years) and the time slot change (they truncated it to 30 minutes most nights, compared to the hour – nightly installments of last year).

Hayley was an excellent host and hope that she is back for the next season and not replaced ala Sarah Wilson in Master Chef.

I’m not too sure on the “family” version of the show, it wasn’t the greatest season in America (thus they reverted to the couples format).

  5. I thought it was very unfair that Phil was sent home Lisa did not do half the work he did ,I did not agree with all of the rules this year may not bother to watch again.

  6. Contestants are weighed every 10 days, which is misleading to viewers as they think it’s a weely weigh in. This also attests to the significant weight loss numbers each time.

  7. it’s funny that a ‘weight loss’ show doesn’t judge by weight loss…if it did Shannon would have won, he lost the most ‘weight’ at 89.6kg, I just don’t understand all these percentages!

  8. Lisa, you are an inspiration to thousands of overweight people! Caitlin did a great job.Shannon also did a fantastic job. Loved the Commando.Pheobe was a delight.Good luck to all of the contestants as their new lives begin!

  9. Congratulations to All. Hayley did an Excellent job. She was empathetic to contestants which allowed viewers an insight into her feelings for their high and low moments.

  10. I find it mildly amusing that a show about people losing weight is being replaced by a show about people cooking food – but then that’s just my weird sense of humour.

  11. @ Harry. I doubt TEN will allow children on the show. All that “Families” means is 4 people that are related in some way, I’m guessing all will be over 18.

  12. @Harry yeah i thought she was gone in the elimination actually i would have put my house on it but i had to pick my jaw up of the floor when she didnt get evicted well done Lisa

  13. What an epic finale – Well Done to Lisa. I didnt think she could do it, Im very happy for her. One of the greatest moments on Aust. Television Ive ever seen! Families is going to be interesting, and I bet TEN are going to cop so much criticism for allowing children to be in the show.

  14. yes not only did Lisa hose away the competion but the show will be back next year i was a bit worried that it wouldnt be espically when the brought back past contestants the famllys show will be intresting i think it was unfair that one of the NT contestants had to be evicted

  15. good on her, but someone that weighs well over 200kg and trying to lose weight isn’t entertainment and now the frakshow show continues with families now. what a joke 10 are
