SBS special uncovers Eurovision tragics

SBS producers have tracked down several Eurovision personalities for their special Eurovision: A- Z.

Les Murray, Adam Richard, Bjorn Again, Miaou Miaou and plenty of Eurovision tragics were in attendance last night for the filming of Eurovision: A -Z, an SBS special looking back on the legendary Song Contest.

The special, to air on May 22nd, celebrates the best and the worst of Europe’s premier pop battle which itself airs in Australia on May 30th.

As well as looking at the music, the fashion, the choreography, the politics and select highlights, producers managed to track down several Eurovision personalities.

Appearing in the special is Gina G., the Brissy-born gal who represented the UK in 1996 with “(Oooh Ahh) Just a Little Bit.” These days she is a mum living in Hollywood.

Also chatting via satellite is Irish hitmaker Johnny Logan. The “Hold Me Now” singer was born in Frankston.

And Russia’s pop wonder Dima Bilan is grabbed for an interview during an Australian visit.

Hosted by Julia Zemiro and Sam Pang, it’s a must-see for the Eurovision tragic in us all.

  1. I agree – Julia Zemiro and Sam Pang combined sorely lack the charisma to bring any charm to the overall Eurovision experience that Terry Wogan has brought for many years.

I’m a huge fan of Graham Norton & was fuming that I couldn’t experience the Eurovision with his commentary.

It’s a shame that SBS feel the need to add a local perspective to the event; the sharp wit from Wogan/Norton stems from being involved on a national level for the past 40 years.

  2. Hope this is the only part of the Eurovision coverage Zemiro and Pang host.If SBS use these two clowns like last year and not the Graham Norton feed then it will be getting the flick from me,they were Boring with a capital B

  3. What a pity the email address link for Blink TV and tickets to this taping never replied. I sent 4 emails and i know 3 other people in similar position, we would have loved to of been in the audience.

    Clearly an inept company.

  4. “plenty of Eurovision tragics…” including the guy in the front row with the Eurovision tattoo… no that’s not me but I was with him 🙂

It’s a good show to act as a prelude to the main event although David Knox as SBS’s Eurovision blogger why weren’t you on stage??

  5. Love Love Love Eurovision, miss Terry wogan though. Before he had to tone it down in recent years. There’s been a few aussies in eurovision over the years… the German entry a few years back, a country band, had an Australian as the lead singer (quite a good song, too).

  6. This was looking like something worth watching, until I got to the last line of the article:

“Hosted by Julia Zemiro and Sam Pang, it’s a must-see for the Eurovision tragic in us all.”

    Switch off.
