  1. @bindi: actually it has everything to do with the treatment of shows in Australia. If shows are performing poorly in the country they’re made, then they may face cancelation; which would directly affect our ability to watch new episode- simply because new eps would noonger exist.

  2. SN is still strong as ever in the demos, which are the only important thing for the CW. Heroes is looking like it will come back for a 13 ep final season according to some reports. Gossip Girl was great for the first half of this season but the last few eps have been terrible, Dan and Vanessa have no chemistry together and they really need to get rid of Jenny.

24 and Lost have been great this year, shame they’re coming to an end.

  3. If I’m not mistaken this is an analysis of American ratings data not Australian so the treatment of shows in australia has no relevance to this story.

  4. Re: Heroes – I stuck with the much criticised second series and liked the story arc of that volume, but couldn’t get past a couple of episodes of series 3 as it just became all too confusing with two different time frames seeming to exist, and you never really knowing what you were watching.

So many US series suffer really due to the 22-episodes a year requirement, and then the need to milk it as long as the networks want it, rather than producers saying “actually, we can only get one or two series out of this idea.”

  5. No wonder sn went down. No one ever knows it on due to pityful advertising and the fact that its on at a horrible timeslot, on during the holidays when everyones absent, and that is is so far behind from the U.s Everyone knows that it is so awesome that people can’t wait eons for it to air here. CH10 doesn’t give it a chance

  6. Hopefully Heroes is dead and buried – the following seasons never even came close to living up to all the promise of the first season especially episode four of season one when future Hiro uttered those now famous words to peter petrelli “save the cheerleader save the world”. The story arc of Season 4 was about a spooky carnival – please – it was so lame.

  7. Lost stands out. One of only 2 dramas (with NCIS) to have gone up. The rest are down.

Survivor and TAR: good to see them rating well. TAR has been consistent, but Survivor fell away between seasons 11-14. Since China I think ratings have been on the up.

  8. i can’t believe the ABC Saturday Movie has experienced between a 10-20% drop!!

But in all seriousness it’s good to see lost’s ratings have increased but disappointing to see that fringe has dropped more than 20%- I hope that if they do decide to give it the axe that they’ll give it a good ending.

  9. How come Supernatural’s been taken off again? Were the ratings that bad?

Awesome that TBBT is getting more viewers though, I think everyone should be watching it.

  10. Cold Case, Numb3rs and Melrose Place have been pegged for extinction for a while. Smallville and Supernatural would be to if they were on any network other than CW.

  11. you also have to remember that lost is in its final season so there are probably a few people who have returned to the series and also people who may have picked it up by watching the previous 5 seasons on DVD.

  12. no mention of castle? it’s had huge improvements this year. i find Lost’s ratings very surprising. the ratings were not that great last year but since everything has dropped around it while it has increased making it the #1 drama in lots of it’s weeks is a real achievement.
