Vale: Christopher Cazenove

Another former Dynasty cast member passes away, as British actor Christopher Cazenove dies aged 66.

British actor Christopher Cazenove, who played Ben Carrington in Dynasty, has died after contracting septicaemia. He was 66.

Cazenove had been in a coma since collapsing in February after a trip to California during which he had complained of migraines.

His film career began in 1970 with an uncredited role in Julius Caesar but he went on to several parts in British TV, most notably in The Duchess of Duke Street. More recently he appeared in A Fine Romance and Judge John Deed.

He also appeared in the 2001 film A Knight’s Tale.

His family, who had been at his bedside at St Thomas’ Hospital in London, said in a statement: “Christopher died peacefully on April 7 surrounded by his loved ones having contracted septicaemia at the end of February. Despite a valiant fight and the untiring efforts of the wonderful team at St Thomas’, he was overwhelmed. All who knew and loved him will be devastated by the loss of this incredible man who touched so many lives.”

Cazenove’s death follows that passing of Dynasty colleague John Forsythe who died in the US last week.

  1. Can I claim my 20sec of fame? I worked in a pharmacy in Kings Rd Chelsea in the 70s and he and his wife Angharad Rees were customers. He was a typically polite English gent.

  2. Every time I watch him in “A Knight’s Tale” as the blind thatcher meeting his son again after ten years, it makes me tear up.

I hope this isn’t the beginning of a “Knight’s Tale” curse. Watch out, Paul Bettany!

  3. @ Madame Tango – great to find another fan of Duchess of Duke St.. Any time I see Gemma Jones on Trial and Retribution, i think fondly of that great series. I forgot that Mr Cazenove was in it – a dashing bloke. Sad to hear of yet another loss this year. Too many great performers gone.
