Grey’s Anatomy without the Grey

Ellen Pompeo says in two year's time she's done with Grey's Anatomy.

Are there more cast members from Grey’s Anatomy heading for the exit door?

Ellen Pompeo, who plays the rather crucial ‘Grey’ in Grey’s Anatomy is hinting yes, but not for another two years. And by then it may be time to close up shop anyway…

“I haven’t said I’m moving on,” she said.” “I said that when my contract is up after Season 8 [in two years], I would probably not renew. I think the world has had a lot of Meredith Grey.”

Recently fans got a bit worked up when one of the show’s characters was looking to quit Seattle Grace, fuelling speculation they were leaving the show. If you wanna know who that is you can check it out here.

This season the show lost both Katherine Heigl and T.R. Knight.

  1. ABC could well continue with Grey’s after Merideth leaves, it’s one of their top shows, and they haven’t found a solid drama since 2004, when they discovered Lost, Greys and Housewives all in a season, ER continued decently until Noah Wyle (the last remaining original cast member) left…. they may as well milk as many seasons out of Grey’s as they can, focus on a new character…

  2. Ah well see how we go for one season after Meredith leaves with little Grey, if it fails to perform write up a nice ending and wrap it up, a 7 – 8 season run, thats respectable. Yeh don’t flog it like they did with ER.

  3. It’s had a very good run creatively + the ratings battle over the years. My interest waned during season 4 (writers strike affected season, it was basically the only show that i didn’t immediately return to once that was all dealt with).

The Meredith character has irritated me for years (Ellen Pompeo is good, just the character drove me nuts) – to the point where i began calling the show “George’s Anatomy”. I’d be glad to see the back of her and have Lexi Grey as the main character.

In saying that the show will probably finish up regardless, can’t stagnate and drag on like E.R did.

  4. There were no more McLeod’s daughters left by the end so they had to make up some cousins – look how that ended. I love it, but I’d rather see the show wind up than continue without the favourite characters and be less than it is.

  5. I must say Grey’s Anatomy isnt Grey’s Anatomy without Meredith. I dont care what anyone says. If she goes then i would be happy for the series to end instead of it going on.

This is quite a shock to hear. I thought 10 Seasons would be the mark for this series then end but 8 i am happy with although it is the 3rd highest earning series in America. It would be a huge blow to both Seven and ABC.

  6. If Grey’s Anatomy continues without Ellen Pompeo there’s still Lexie Grey and if Chyler Leigh is gone by then, it won’t be the first time that a show has continued without the title character. One example of which is that of Blake who wasn’t around for the last two seasons of Blake’s 7.

However I will find it surprising if Grey’s Anatomy last more than 8 seasons.

  7. id say this will mark the end of this series. It was such a good show when it started but really havent got into it since mid way into season 3. Id say 8 seasons of this show is enough, and 8 seasons in this day and age is an incredible achievenment, it looks highly likey 7 and ABC US will lose Greys and Housewives back to back
