Medical emergency on X Factor

An incident took place at the first day of national auditions for The X Factor when one of the auditionees went into cardiac arrest.

An incident took place at the first day of national auditions for The X Factor in Perth yesterday.

A 17-year-old female went into cardiac arrest in the Green Room.

A Seven / FremantleMedia spokesperson told TV Tonight, “She was treated by a fellow hopeful, who is a clinical nurse, and the medic on-site before the ambulance arrived and transported her to Royal Perth Hospital.

“She will be released this morning after being held for observation overnight.”

The assisting contestant is said to have travelled with the girl in the ambulance to the hospital, returned and succeeded with their audition.

The show will air on Seven later this year.

  1. I actually know this girl. do not judge the tv show for holding auditions

@ozinoz: she did not do this to get out of it and it wasn’t on purpose you can’t purposely bring on a heart problem during auditions. how low do you think she is. she isn’t that kind of person.

and to everyone else who thinks that she brought this on herself to get attention, maybe you should get your facts straight. I hope to god tv doesn’t air this. yes they have a right to thank the contestant who saved her but to exploit her to the whole world isn’t giving her any privacy!!!

  2. The stuff Today Tonight dreams of. Another segment, er, promo, for yet another program. Oh and ACA too “Are TV auditions killing people”? That’s a good angle since Nine doesn’t have an audition show, yet.

  3. @philm. $20 million is just the start. I m hearing that the contract was for $ 1 million an ep. Add that to that the production costs, marketing and everything else the bill is probably around $25/30 million

  4. Seems like many of you are overlooking the main point and are instead focusing on your personal opinions of the show and network.

You should all be happy that the quick actions of somebody saved the life of a young girl. This story could have very easily had a much worse ending.

  5. @shazza My point in rushing auditions is that unless you publicise and promote your casting of a talent net in an exhaustive way, and you rush it through, as I suggest they have done, they do not reach enough ‘talent’ and end up with mediocre rounds of performers. Having talent is one thing, not having the audition info available to you is another.

  6. Of course the assisting contestant was successful! They just needed the slightest bit of talent to excuse putting them through. We all know by now that it’s about story and journey. Talent is just an excuse. This person has a fantastic story.

  7. @dave
I don’t see a problem with not advrtising the audition dates in advance. If you have talent then there is no problem whether they run the auditions now or in a month’s time. Why would you need more time? You can’t create talent in a few weeks.

  8. i hope she is alright and 7 better not flog this across their current aqffair show and agnt. as quick thinking people at 7 save a girls life

  9. @dave- i think because the announcement was only what- three weeks ago- it seems rushed. I would guess though that this has been in the works for months. you don’t just throw around $20 million in a rush. Saying that AGT season 4 seemed rush and it has turned out to be the best season yet IMO.

Poor girl, hope she is feeling better and hopefully this wont be used in the show. then again this is seven…

  10. is it just me, or does it seem as if the whole process has been overly hurried?
Have they done an exhaustive ad campaign before gathering people to audition.
The whole thing just feels really rushed. Judges, host and audition. It will end up being too close to Youv’e got talent and half baked. I was one of the few that enjoyed x factor on ten, but this seems a little on the nose before it has got going!

  11. Seven/Fremantle cameras caught all the action as it happened. The crew was there filming Sevens new factual/reality programme “Reality Show Mishaps and Disasters”. Expect the show to air later this year.
