Former Australian Idol and It Takes Two singer Paulini Curuenavuli will make her acting debut in the ABC’s telemovie Sisters Of War.
Paulini will play a nun in the drama which follows the plight of a group of nuns and nurses on the remote island of New Britain, part of Papua New Guinea, in 1942. The Australian nurses and nuns became prisoners of war by the Japanese.
The cast also includes Claire van der Boom (The Pacific, Rush), NIDA graduate Sarah Snook, Gerald Lepkowski (Dirt Game, East West 101) and Susie Porter (East of Everything, East West 101, RAN)
Produced by Pericles Film Production, it will air on ABC1 later this year.

I have a soft spot for Paulini. Great voice.
Paulini will hopefully have better luck than Jessica Mauboy who appeared in the flop movie Bran Nue Dae.
And how does this compare with “Tenko,” which has an almost exactly similar premise?
