Report: FlashForward, Scrubs, Better off Ted & Romantically Challenged axed

FlashForward, Scrubs, Better off Ted and Romantically Challenged with Australia's Josh Lawson are all reportedly cancelled.

ABC in the US is believed to have axed FlashForward, Scrubs, Better off Ted and Romantically Challenged.

Michael Ausiello at EW.com reports that multiple sources confirm the cancellations but ABC had no comment.

Romantically Challenged starred Alyssa Milano and Aussie Josh Lawson as play a thirtysomething man torn between his new girlfriend and needy best friend. Only 3 episodes have aired in the US. It was due to air on Nine.

FlashForward’s demise follows sinking ratings for the sci-fi drama which was launched in a blaze of promotion, including in Australia. Ironically the axe comes not long after the April 29 date in the storyline when the character’s were shown a glimpse of their future.

If only they had known…

The ending for Scrubs confirms the news that Zach Braff revealed on his Facebook last month: “Many of you have asked, so here it is: it appears that “New Scrubs”, “Scrubs 2.0″, “Scrubs with new kids”, “Scrubbier”, “Scrubs without JD” is no more. It was worth a try, but alas… it didn’t work. zb”

  1. I hope the 2 unaired episodes of Ted get aired somewhere or released on DVD then. What a brilliant show. The clever ones are always first to go.

  2. Flash forwards US ratings looked to be good enough to keep it going, but the writing was onn the wall for Ted for a while and as mentioned we knew Scrubs2 was gone!

  3. Although not suprising, it is so disappointing that Better Off Ted couldn’t get a Third Season; the show is just utterly hilarious; I think I have laughed more in 1 episode of that show than 10 seasons of some other shows. Brilliant stuff. At least there is 26 episodes to enjoy.

  4. Romantically Challenged was not too bad, Alyssa Milano and Alan’s gf from 2.5 men had some good chemistry. The rest was just boring, Scrubs on ABC is boring, Flashforward makes you wanna fast forward through it, Better of Ted was boring as a turn-off after 5 minutes.

  5. I’ve seen the first 3 eps of Romantically Challenged, it’s typical lame sitcom humour kind of like a cheap version of Friends but it wasn’t terrible. By the 3rd ep I actually got into it and wouldn’t mind seeing more.

  6. So flashforward only gets one season, that’s what should have happened to Heroes, instead they allowed it to keep continue, which resulted in me losing valuble hours of my life.

I am glad that ff is getting the flick, it really didn’t live up to its hype.

  7. Hope this gives Flash Foward something to work towards. I know it didn’t live up to the hype, but there’s a good story there and I really have enjoyed it the last few weeks. Couldn’t have developed into years and years, but a good season or two would be good for this premise. Hopefully they get to wrap things up nicely.

  8. Seven billed the most recent episode of Scrubs as “Last ever episode.” Probably three or four years too late in some ways. It had some good moments.

  9. Yeah I understand it reflects that David.

However some of the comments here are taking it as they have been cancelled (as were a few on Twitter), so I thought it was worth pointing out that Michael Ausiello is the only one reporting any of them (ie: nothing on HR, Variety, Deadline).

In fact Alyssa Milano thought it was fact as well as she Twittered, that she just found out via Twitter (she has since removed the Tweet, since finding out it hasn’t happened).

  10. Apparently all the Cancellations are only speculation by the person who wrote that report, or so the Official RomChallenged and Alyssa_Milano Twitter Accounts say.

Also backed up by the SitcomsOnline Twitter account who is quoting an ABC Publicist and also saying this:

“The only official ABC updates is: 6 new series pick-ups (in addition to No Ordinary Family from yesterday) and the second season pick-up of V.”

So if ABC has not yet said anything about cancellations this may be why Happy town is not yet in the list (as all that is just speculation).

  11. Flash Forward – Really disappointed as I was really starting to get into it.

Scrubs – No shocks here – this show has been on a downward spiral for a while.

Better Off Ted – Devastated! This was one of the funniest shows I’ve seen in years. A shame to see it go 🙁

  12. Craig, when a show falls so far so fast between 2 strong shows (DWTS &castle) you don’t need more than 3 episodes to give you an answer.

  13. Scrubs & Flashforward, not a shock. But they really didn’t give Romantically Challenged much of a change, 3 eps does not make a season.

Better Off Ted should have been back, it was a nice show, no wonder Portia been spending so much time on Ellen’s show.

  14. Very dissapointed over the loss of Better off Ted, one of the funniest, laugh out loud comedies in a long time. ABC still have two un-aired episodes left of season two (current season). Lets hope they are aire over US summer, or they hurry up with the DVD release.
Scrubs was worth a try, but yeah not a great show. It didnt have the same feel, and the loss of major characters like JD, Carla, Janitor didnt help. The security guards they brought in to replace the Janitor role were terrible.
FlashFoward bored me by the end of episode one, Romantically Challenged, never heard of it.

  15. Flash Forward – no brainer – I hope they can wrap tings up bloody quickly.

Better Off Ted – I’m biased here, Portia is brilliant, so the show should go on!

Scrubs – there comes a time to put things to rest….

As for the rest – meh!
