A Perth radio host who was sacked after a “rigged” competition scandal will retain his role as the host of a community television show, Perth Star.

Hans Bruechle was sacked by NOVA after claims he tried to help a friend win $10,000 in ‘The Grand 100’ promotion. The prize was awarded by Bruechle to a woman who had supposedly rung up during the 99th song for the day. But management sacked him and gave the money to charity.

The West Australian newspaper reported station records showed Bruechle called the woman five minutes before she rang the station.

Bruechle hosts the talent show Perth Star, an Idol-like contest currently filming live finals for Community station WEST TV.

Executive Producer Jasmine Leivers said, “Hans has proved himself worthy of being a television presenter.

“Hans has impressed the studio audience every week with his charm, quick wit and great sense of humour. The audience thoroughly enjoy coming to the show each week not only to support the singers but to have a good time with Hans entertaining them.”

She described his radio incident as the biggest mistake in his life.

“I hope that one day everyone can forgive and forget so that this great talent can pursue his dreams.”

  1. It wasnt the smartest thing hes ever done, but he’s still a very amazing guy. I think the media should stop twisting things + get the right info before they start accusing Jasmine of saying stuff that she didnt even.
