7PM Project nudges 1.1m, wins slot

The 7PM Project won its timeslot last night, running over the magic million mark and nabbing its biggest audience all year.

The 7PM Project won its timeslot with 1.09m viewers last night.

The show has been inching closer to the magic million mark since the end of Daylight Saving, and the arrival of MasterChef. It ran right over the line last night pulling its best best figure for the year, and the highest since its debut week, with an appearance by NCIS star Pauley Perrette live in the studio.

It beat ABC News (1.05m), Two and a Half Men (980,000) and Home and Away (952,000).

TEN had another strong night with MasterChef Australia (1.86m), Glee (1.4m) and Law and Order: SVU (902,000).

Nine won the night in network figures with Sea Patrol nudging 1.2m (1.19m), Getaway on 1.03m, and The Big Bang Theory on GO! with a whopping 381,000.

Seven’s Thursday line-up continues to struggle with Seven News (1.47m) and Today Tonight (1.31m) its best performers. At 7:30 its combined Matty Johns / Vicar of Dibley offerings pulled 927,000 -half of MasterChef.

  1. I agree wholeheartedly with Goonies re Lucy McDonald – i liked her from day1 , and she is equally adept at harder news and light fare, but disagree respectfully but passionately with Andrew and Goonies re Georgie. I thought she added nothing but a one toned delivery and constant sweet smile (ala Juanita Phillips) I really warm to Carrie and her style.

  2. replace carrie with georgie from the circle and 7pm project will start to pull better ratings. i liked georgie when she filled in for carrie and think she is what’s missing from the panel.

  3. I’ve been watching 7pm since it started…..good on ’em. It’s more “A Currant Affair” than the actual ACA! (BTW didn’t like Carrie or Hughsy much on Rove but absolutely love them on 7PM Project!)

  4. Their London correspondent (Lucy Mcdonald) once again proved just how lame a reporter / journalist (whatever she claims to be) Carrie Bickmore is.

If only we could have someone of her calibre or Georgie from the Circle or even Denise would do a better job IMO.

I am enjoying the idiot questions she keeps asking Dr Rochford though because the looks on his face are priceless!

  5. I wouldn’t write off its chances of continuing its 850,000- million audience once Masterchef is over.As someone on the ratings thread pointed out – 7pm project is a most appealing alternative to the endless litany of shocks and glorified advertorials for Woolies and Coles on ACA & TT. With 7pm Project you get a good sense of the main stories of the day, often followed with more detailed tape pieces and an interview with an expert or a commentator, not withstanding the often valuable input of Negus, Dr Dimples, Clark Kent the Vet and others. The comedy doesn’t always sit right with the tougher stories of the day – but more and more people seem drawn to it (again another post mentioned the huge switch on after Neighbours). 7pm is here to stay.

  6. I was a casual viewer until recently. Now, not only do I watch it every day, but I actually look forward to it during the day. I don’t remember what their first shows were like so I can’t exactly pinpoint specific improvements but it’s definitely better now, which can probably be attributed to the time it got to find its feet.

  7. just wait till masterchefs over and see the ratings drop again.
look at what happened to neighbours last year. everybody was going on and on about its high ratings and that people are getting hooked. masterchef ended, and neighbour slipped to nothing.

  8. ha, isn’t this a good Ten story in regard to executives patience with a concept? I believe most of you were calling Mott and his team a pack of idiots around this time last year?

  9. I agree with Damo – for me Dave is (always has been) the weakest link of the show, Irony that last night was its best rating, as tonally i thought it struggled – especially with the segues from British massacre, tornado and Dave and to a lesser extent Charlie not able to find an appropriate way to make observations witty without being in poor taste. But that was an exception – the show has been firing really well for months. I am pleased that it has found its audience, but Dave Hughes – if you visit this site – stop smirking and ballsing up set ups and segues!
    Otherwise champers all round!~

  10. Good to see that 10 stuck with it. If this was on 7 or 9 it would have been well axed by now. I tell you what though Im sick of the Glee promos coming on before Neighbours. I still enjoy watching the 7pm project.

  11. Good to see. I was one of those doubtful of the 7pm Project but 10 stayed with it and are getting the results they deserve for their commitment. Congrats!
