Eliminated MasterChef contestants return

Eleven eliminated MasterChef contestants returned to the TEN reality contestant tonight to compete for 3 return places in the series.

Eleven eliminated MasterChef contestants returned to the TEN reality contestant tonight to compete for 3 return places in the series.

They were part of a “massive twist” by the cooking contest.

Competing for another chance are Matthew, Jimmy, Skye, Phillip, Jake, Devon, Peter, Courtney, Daniel, Kate and Sharnee.

Not returning were Joanne, Adele, Sarah, Dominic, Fiona and Carrie. Judge George Calombaris said they were happy with their “culinary journey is on track” outside of the competition.

Four of Sunday night’s challenges would see six proceed to another test on Monday night, with three to be reinstated to the contest.

However, Sharnee was already cut from the first challenge. Kate followed after a mashed potato cook-off. Next to go was Matthew in a pancake challenge.

Both Skye and Daniel failed an Eggs Benedict test.

Competing for three places on Monday are Jake, Phillip, Peter, Devon, Jimmy and Courtney in an Invention test, to be tasted by the remaining seven contestants.

Last year the series returned a number of eliminated contestants including Poh Ling Yeow who went on to become the series runner-up.

  1. I don’t care as long as none of the ‘come backs’ get any sort of immunity.

If they come back tonight and there is an elimination tonight then too bad so sad -no free passes!

  2. So, does thaat mean that if any of the original remaining contestants are eliminated in the next couple fo weeks, they get automatic imminity and a second chance. These were voted out for a reason – they were not up to the required standard.

    This is just weak

  3. I just lost interest with this so called twist. Firstly, it’s a lazy effort to just prolong the show and secondly it’s unfair for the remaining contestants.

  4. Can’t stand this system they have of giving eliminated contestants a second chance. Why? They have been eliminated, therefore we should have seen the last of them. They have not brought these contestants back in because they feel sorry for them. They have brought them back to extend the run of the show by a fortnight, thereby maximising precious advertising dollars for Ten. Cynical, manipulative TV at its worst.

  5. I really love that they’ve allowed everyone a chance to come back, rather than the judges picking their favourites. I’m sure some of those now competing might have slipped through the cracks otherwise, and at least if our own favourites dropped out or didn’t come back we can blame them, not the program. I’d been missing Phillip since his early exit, so glad to see him with a shot at returning!

  6. This is just weak – Australians “Top” amateur cooks and they couldnt even plate up a pile of mashed potato.

    Just lost any credibility…

  7. i think this is crap and it was crap last year. if you are out of the show you are out. you dont get to come back and maybe win the whole thing. i will keep watching it as i have from the start of this year but they have lost me for next year. i just dont see their thinking of bringing back people who have gone in the past.

  8. I’ve got mixed feelings on this one. Yeah it’s good to liven things up a bit but I can’t help thinking it devalues the efforts of the remaining contestants who’ve battled to make it this far. Some of those brought back were eliminated (rightly or wrongly) very early on. Seems a bit unfair that they have a shot of making it to the last few weeks of the comp on the back of maybe a couple of good days cooking this week.

  9. No surprises here.. a very underwhelming twist.

I really wish everyone on the show would stop saying that they want to get their place “in the house” or words to that effect. It’s not Big Brother it’s MasterChef. They should be saying that they want to win their place in the kitchen, or the “MasterChef Kitchen”…

  10. With the final six battle for spot on MC, hope peter, jake, phillip get back in. Dissapointed about Skye though. Cant believe a home style cook like Kate could stuff up mashed potato!

  11. Thank you God! No Joanne. She was just getting top the point of pulling my hair out! I’m disappointed that Sharnee and Matthew are gone! But then again they have favourites and having many in Gen Y might not be their cup of tea. Well done Kate for going! I mean she wasn’t one I wanted back as she lacked skill. Skye is big disappointment! she had somehting to offer! Daniel, well 50/50. He’s good then bad. Surprised at Carrie and Adele. They had a lot to offer and should have returned. Sarah, well if you walk that’s it girlfriend. You want to go, it over! They want you out it’s a second chance. This time round it’s more fair and even. Favorites being picked by them and then every Thursday one is ganged upon to leave! Much more pressurized and exciting way to get in or out!

  12. Poor Skye. She screwed up big time. She was one of the 3 i wanted back. Oh well. Hoping that Courtney, who got scammed imo when she correctly guessed it as spearmint but was sent packing as the judges thought it was just mint, gets back in. As for the rest couldnt care less.

  13. As was predicted …. However tomorrow night the current 7 taste and judge the “winners”… Sound similiar to the “jury” on Survivor…..

  14. I thought there would be six return places assuming two contestants will still be eliminated each week. Now there will only be three places, which means only one person will be eliminated each week.

  15. Three weeks ago I made this exact suggestion to my partner. It’s definitely a lot fairer than last year when the judges brought back their favourites.
