Seven rolled out its new game show Minute to Win It last night but it was the Grey’s Anatomy finale that really gave it the victory for Tuesday night.
1.36m viewers watched its excellent two hour finale in which a gunman was on the loose in the hospital.
It beat an NCIS repeat / NCIS: LA (1.3m / 817,000) and Top Gear / Two and a Half Men ( 1.12m / 724,000). Seven News and Today Tonight (1.54m / 1.53m) were also well clear of Nine News and A Current Affair (1.33m / 1.27m).
Masterchef Australia / Modern Family (1.83m / 1.52m) thumped Minute to Win It (1.13m), and Top Gear.
The ABC’s Greatest Cities of the World with Griff Rhys Jones pulled a strong 986,000.
Elsewhere Hot Seat (720,000) and Deal or No Deal (719,000) were split by just 1,000 viewers. Sunrise (391,000) dominated Today (301,000) and The Morning Show (181,000) ruled Kerri-Anne (99,000).
The later FIFA games for SBS saw its share slip back to 6.1%.
And just 111,000 watched the last ever episodes of 24 on 7TWO.
Seven easily won Tuesday night, with TEN taking second place over Nine.

i decided to watch grey’s on plus 7 because of all of your comments and i agree, its one of the best.
David, if you mention kerri anne/the morning show could you also give a mention to the circle just to gauge how its going. Thanks
Scott, story was written from the Top 100 which The Circle did not make. I’ve given good support to the show including a feature last week. I have since learned it was 77,000 yesterday.
I can’t believe 24 didn’t get more viewers!! It was a brilliant ending to the series.
Kudos to the team at 24 for giving us 9 great years of awesome TV!!
Greys lockdown will have me watching again. Gritty and real and scary television. A+
David, last night was actually the second episode of Greatest Cities on ABC. It premiered last week with the New York episode.
Best episode of the series ever. It was that brilliant. I couldnt believe my eyes i really couldnt. This would even have to be one of the best pieces of television i have seen in a very long time. Congrats to the writers on this one.
Modern Family also continues to power along. The big thing with this show is will those ratings stay there when MC is out of the picture. I really hope they do but time will tell. Either way this is the best comedy on TV at the moment.
As a drifting viewer over the last couple of years, the Grey’s finale may have me hooked again. Absolutely amazing 2 hours of television.
It wasn’t as good as the ER season finales over the years. ER season 12 episode 22 was one of the best. Luka was left paralysed after a convict injected him with a paralytic while trying to escape. He was strapped to a gurney unable to help Abby as she collapsed while apparently losing their baby. I love a good cliffhanger.
I watched the Finale of 24 which was great, I will have Chloe on my team anytime. As for Grey’s bummer I missed it I wish I taped it now, I know there is Plus7 but I wonder if 7 will do an encore, one which I would what or maybe on 7two.
angelsgal,
Greys really gave it to NCIS LA – last nights episode was epic as. I thought they copied NCIS a little bit, reminded me of Kates Death and Zivas rescue all in the one ep.
Best two hours of television I have ever seen in my life. I wasn’t sure my heart could stand it for two hours, but there was no way I could look away. My heart was in my throat when Bailey was pulled out from under the bed, and when Christina had the gun to her head, and poor April too. I don’t think I’ve ever felt so much while watching TV, or even film! We had to watch the ep of “Modern Family we’d DVR’d afterwards just to calm down enough for bed!
Next week will be different. Minute to win it is only one ep in and some viewers might have said no already! MasterChef is looking good that week so some people might tune into that. So next week will be guess. Oh and i forgot with grays over 7 might not be in the win.

Last night was actually the second episode of Greatest Cities of the World. There are four more episodes to come, including Hong Kong and Sydney.
Good to see Greys rate well, it was a good final but a couple of things stuck out, how did they get away with such graphic violence in the first few minutes like the lady being shot in the head? Second at one point the gun man was shot, why didn’t they rush him then? Else where it was noted then the people to die were the newer staff from the closed hospital, which has been a topic all season, guess that’s one way to cull the cast…
On a lighter note, it was good to see Modern Family still rating strong 6 eps in, at this rate it could average 1.5mil all season. And it’s been re-newed for a 2nd season in the US. Hope the NCIS:LA boys can get some ratings back next week.
I had never watched an episode of Grey’s before but watched the finale last night because I’d heard how good it was. Loved every minute!
Bailey getting pulled out from under the bed was the time my hairs were raised the highest!
Excellent performance by Bailey!
@angelsgal – it’s because everyone records Grey’s and watches it whenever they have time (I often don’t watch for a few weeks and then watch like 4 eps), anything beyond a week doesn’t get caught even in the new ratings system. But everyone Must watch the finale live or near to live!!!
And it was totally worth it!!!!
@bundynelle – agree completely – why did that SWAT guy shoot the gunman in the shoulder and then instead of getting him again when he was down and ending the whole thing he simply disappeared!?
MillerT1, you should not reference All Saints when recommending another tv show! Cringe factor hits the roof when mentioning All Saints. Whether or not it was similar does not matter!
It just amazes me how Greys can pull average figues all year then pull a huge figure for the finale. It did the exact same thing last year. It really hurt NCIS:LA, which was a shame cos last nights ep was probably the best of the season, my sis walked in and said is this the finale, and im like no, just a regular ep. They finally closed the loop on the missing Dom, very epic ep.
What about the 24 Finale last night… was I the only person in Australia who watched it?
best finale ever
Well done on the makers of “Greys”! I was planning an early night to bed last night but that didn’t happen after the viewing the first 10mins of “Greys Anatomy” last night. However, they should sack that SWAT team, slowest….SWAT Team … ever! ;0)
Greys Anatomy was fantastic last night.
That really was an incredible two hours of television. It’s amazing that I’ve only watched a few episodes of Grey’s Anatomy and that I cared as much about the characters as a regular viewer. Anyone who missed it should definitely catchup on PLUS7 or see if a friend recorded it because I have no doubt that you will be entertained. Does anyone remember the 2003 finale for All Saints? Very similar storyline but this was definitely better.
