Nine News hijacks TEN News footage

Is that a Nine watermark or a TEN watermark? Who cares as long as we see the Socceroos arriving.

Nine News must have missed out on getting the crucial moment of the Socceroos arrival at Durban Stadium earlier this week.

Instead they “borrowed” TEN News footage and whacked a Nine watermark over TEN’s.

This doesn’t look too good hot on the heels of those copycat promos for Rescue Special Ops.

Maybe the Nine News team was busy attending to taser burns at the time….?

  1. i noticed that huge ‘only on 7’ watermark across the plane crash explosion. happens overseas all the time, and i am always surprised, but impressed, that Australia didn’t seem to do it, i guess no one wanted to be the first, but if stuff like this happens we can probably expect much more of it.

  2. I can see clearly now Ja’mie, thank you for that very illuminating piece of advice… not. Au contraire, I’m more of a Ten viewer.
If I may add, what Nine has done is still more respectable than what Seven could possibly do with their gutter journalistic credibility.

  3. @dave – I agree TEN probably has an agreement with CBS for Letterman, can’t remember what 7TWO did with Leno’s 10pm show. I do know on The Comedy Channel the tend to put their logos on the other side of the screen for the different talk shows I watch, including Letterman and Leno.

BTW I hate Seven, Nine and TEN equally 33.33333% each, for doing things like this 😀

  4. @chk chk: the report isn’t that bias, he’s simply pointing out an objective example of the nine network’s unethical reporting methods.

If seven had done it, I’m sure a similar article would be written.

    1. Chk Chk…. you didn’t ask about bias against Seven after the taser story? What about the story criticising Seven News for David Campbell story? What about the positive story this week about Nine stepping up social media? Go back across the life of the blog and you will find positives and negatives for all….

  5. While they should have acknowledged that it was from Ten News, it’s not like they specifically put the Nine News watermark on top of Ten’s – the Nine News watermark is there in that spot for the duration of the news no matter if the footage is there’s or not.

  6. When TEN shows ‘Letterman’ late at night they use a TEN logo with a solid black background, presumably to hide the CBS logo?

I’m not saying they’re doing anything wrong, I’m certain they have an agreement with CBS and the producers, etc. Just a point of interest

  7. Fox Sports News is doing some weird zoom thing for any World Cup footage they air. I also caught one of the networks, think it was Seven, completely blurring out the SBS watermark as well.

  8. I usually only watch ten News 🙂 had a good range of stories and the 1 hour duration gives it the versatility and time to focus on certain stories. I’m not as big fans of 7 and 9. SBS is good, but i never catch it. ABC is a favourite too.

  9. yet Nine still has the cheek to plaster “First on Nine” across their news footage in giant font so nobody else can cover that up? Still the One for double standards!

  10. No wonder Seven went to extra lengths with some of their exclusive footage of the plane crash in Sydney yesterday. They plastered “Only on 7” right across the center of the screen, hard to avoid but annoying as hell when trying to watch the news!

I’ve also see many times where they pixelate out watermarks from other network both here and overseas.

What happened to respecting your sources between networks?
