No Deal on bold promo

Without any thought of Spoiler-ing, a Deal or No Deal promo clearly states that a contestant "will win $200,000."

Interesting promo for Deal or No Deal doing the rounds, for an episode that goes to air today.

Without any thought of Spoiler-ing the promo clearly states that a contestant “will win $200,000.” There was once a time when the last thing a network wanted to do was giveaway the ending to a quiz show.

Now with Deal locked in a tight battle with Nine’s Hot Seat, it seems all bets are off. Unless she is given the “Double or Nothing” option?

Wonder if we will be seeing more Spoilers for other Seven shows? Will we be told who wins Australia’s Got TalentMy Kitchen Rules before it airs? Next winner? Does the million bucks go off on Minute to Win It?

  1. I usually watch Deal or No Deal, while I’m waiting for the News, but I am going to deliberately not watch tonight in protest for the stupid promo, and because now I already know what happens. I mean, it’s not like I tune in for Andrew O’Keefe’s dodgy smalltalk.

  2. Isn’t new, 9 did this on Price when they had the Monster Showcase, the ads clearly stated the night it would happen…. I think that is 2005 when is what everyone is referencing here, cos DOND has done this before revealed the $200K winner previously.

In fact I think ACA also promo’d that night that they would talk to the winner too if I am not mistaken.

  3. Channel 7 have lost the plot on their promos – the Bones 100th episode and this week’s season finale promos pretty much give away what happens. No point relying on 7 if you want to stay spoiler free.

  4. They basically showed half the ep on Weekend Sunrise on Sunday – what’s the point of watching, we saw most of it then (even up to the final 3 cases), and know how much she’s going to win

  5. I saw a pop up on Channel 7 last night saying the $200 000 will go off tomorrow (Wednesday). I’ll still watch … but it does take away the surprise.

  6. How stupid! I’m really less interested than ever in seeing it. It’s not the greatest show to begin with and who would want to watch it if you know how it ends?

  7. Instead of revealing the person, they should have said “The $200,000 will go off this week but only when you least expect it”. Then everyone would think “well, it can’t be Friday because if it hasn’t gone off by then, it definitely has to be on Friday and therefore won’t be unexpected. So it can’t be Thursday either, because similarly if it hasn’t gone off yet and it can’t possibly be Friday, it definitely has to be on Thursday and again won’t be unexpected. So it can’t be Wednesday either, or Tuesday, or Monday. So it won’t go off at all.” And then it goes off on Monday when nobody is expecting it.

I’m not sure if Deal Or No Deal’s audience is capable of such deep thought though.

  8. i think they also show a glimpse of her last round where she *spoiler if you haven’t seen it*
is left with 100,000, and 200,000. od promoting decision. what’s left to watch the show for.

  9. I’ve got to admit I’m not a fan of this at all. I switched back to Deal instead of the cooking shows on 7Two when they had the initial ads saying that someone would win the $200, 000 soon. But now I can put the face to it, it takes all of the excitement out of not just this episode, but every episode surrounding it because I know they’re not the one who wins the big prize.

I’m noticing a lot more spoiler trailers though all round, and it’s disappointing. I’d love to be surprised when I’m watching the show, not watching an ad!

  10. i thought it was bad when they were saying it (the $200000) was going to go off at all this week, but at least with clever scheduling you can have everyone guess all week as to who it is going to be (ie. including plenty of games where the $200 000 is in till the end). i can remember when it first went off it was pretty highly publicised, but even then i think it was ‘some time this month’…
    this is just plain ridiculous!

  11. That is seriously disgraceful. Was the person responsible for that ad dyslexic and ment to write ‘Will She Win $200k?’

Even so, now that they’ve gone straight out and given away the ending, I can guarentee you I won’t be watching, it’s like giving away the ending of a book or a movie, unless it’s a very good film/ novel, you wouldn’t bother wasting your time.

  12. Call me crazy, but I think we are seeing this in drama adverts too. Stuff like ‘a big secret will be revealed…’, then 5 seconds later, they blurt it out!

  13. They had an interview with the winner on Weekend Sunrise… I thought that was really odd too…

In fact, the interview is still available on the Weekend Sunrise website…

  14. The promo is stupid. Last night my kids flicked over to Prime at 5:35. One said “that’s not her” and flicked back to Eddie. The promo says “She will Win $200,000”. So it’s today is it?!

  15. I saw this last night and even my girlfriend commented on it who couldn’t care less for TV; stupid promo renders the entire show pointless I hate Deal or No Deal already because its so bland and repetitive knowing the outcome gives me even less ‘want’ to watch the show.

  16. This isn’t new. I remember years ago when the first guy won the 200k, Seven ran advertisments saying “Someone will win the $200,000 this week”. These promos ran from around the Sunday onwards until it went off on the Thursday. Only they didn’t show the person who won it unlike this new promo.

  17. I remember when the first millionaire won the big one, the story of the win was leaked weeks in advance (by an audience member). Considering that dond is also recorded in advance, theyre better off capitalising on it.

And dont forget that Hot Seat had a special primetime episode when the firdt million dollar question was asked (answered incorrectly though)
