Schools needed for Weather Channel world record

The Weather Channel needs over 261 schools to help it break the Guinness World Record for the world’s largest interactive weather report.

The Weather Channel is calling on schools across the country to help it break the Guinness World Record for the world’s largest interactive weather report during National Science Week.

For the record to be broken, over 261 schools will need to measure the temperature in their playground at midday AEST on August 18th and send it through to The Weather Channel.

The information will become part of The Big Report, which will be broadcast on The Weather Channel.

The current record of 261 schools was set by the BBC in March this year.

Julian Delany, General Manager of The Weather Channel says, “The Weather Channel has been a big supporter of weather education through its association with the Foxtel and Austar for Schools programs.

The Big Report supports the educational values of National Science Week while offering students around the country the opportunity to be part of something as exciting as a world record attempt.”

To take part, schools will need to register online at www.weatherchannel.com.au/bigreport between June 1 and July 21.

The first 500 schools to register will also be sent a thermometer and will have the chance to win a visit from one of The Weather Channel’s on-air team on the day.

The Big Report will air on Wednesday August 18 at 6pm AEST
