Seven denies Mike Munro, Chris Bath rift.

Seven News boss Peter Meakin says talk of a rift between Sunday Night co-hosts is "absolute rubbish."

Seven News boss Peter Meakin has denied talk of a rift between Sunday Night co-hosts Mike Munro and Chris Bath.

He told News Limited the rumours were “absolute rubbish and to say anything different is total bull—-“.

Sources claim Munro’s temper has unnerved young producers on the show, erupting regularly.

Munro responded: “If someone is not up to the job when we’re on the road and are maybe out of their depth, am I going to say so? You betcha.”

Munro also said he’d actually prefer not to host the show.

“My priority is being out on the road – being in the studio made up like a dizzy bloody blonde is not my way of reporting.”

Next question for Seven is whether the show will again be rested to make way for Dancing with the Stars.

  1. I thought DWTS was going back to Tuesdays. With AGT finishing this week, I assumed it would slide in there after, then when it’s finished The X-Factor would be good to go.

  2. They both have strong and outspoken personalities, so a clash between them was inevitable.

I think I prefer Christopher Bath over Michael Munro, I’ve gotten used to her week night news reading and prefer it over Overton on Nine. But I can’t stand Mark Ferguson, I’m sure he’s a nice guy, but his news reading voice is so monotonous.

  3. Word is that a floor manager has to be flown from Melbourne each weekend to work on Sunday Night instead of a local from Sydney because of Mike’s temper tantrums.

  4. Seven should get rid of Mike as co-host and have Chris hosting the show alone.Mike Munroe should just retire,l think seven wont resign him after this year anyway.

  5. Mike has a temper? Whatever next? *cough*
Having read his book I can see where it comes from, but really there is no excuse for belittling people in the workplace. I have no idea how he has gotten away with it for so long. He’s good, but he’s never been a Jana, Ray or George, has he?

  6. i’ve really stopped likeing mike. he doesn’t have a tv-friendly personality imo. and i worry that chris’ reputation might be brough down by it. there is absolutley no chemistry there. i undersand that mike is signed with 7 until the end of the year. i think they should part ways aftr that. there are plenty of capable men at 7 that can do his job, and would work well with chris b, maybe chris reason? the show has really found it’s feet and should survie the transition.

“being in the studio made up like a dizzy bloody blonde is not my way of reporting.”
what was he trying to achieve wth that statement?

  7. I have never met either Chris or Mike, but can well and truly believe tension between the anchors. A good friend of mine worked at 9 when Munro was a star and the stories of his attitude and bluster were commonplace. The contrasting personal styles probably don’t mesh and if he throws his weight around, she may well be displeased with the vibe on the set. Ego battling? Could be, Chris has been rising at 7 for many years. But i think she is a nice, friendly sort.
