Skins stars sign for movie

Original Skins stars Nicholas Hoult and Dev Patel have agreed to star in a feature film version.

Original Skins stars Nicholas Hoult and Dev Patel have agreed to star in a feature film version of their offbeat drama.

The Sun reports they’ve signed a contract with Cinema NX, Film4 and Company Pictures.

A spin-off film was discussed a year ago but fell through because they had other commitments. But now a window has been found.

One source said: “Even though Dev and Nic have grown up, they’ll have no trouble reprising their mischievous roles.”

While Patel has since found success in films including Slumdog Millionaire, Hoult has returned to his feature film career, including an upcoming role in Mad Max: Fury Road.

Meanwhile the TV series will have its third cast reshuffle and a US adaptation.

  1. As long as it focuses mainly on season 1 & 2 cast I’ll be happy.

No writers from 3 & 4 better be employed on this because they just about wrecked the whole flipping series.

    No Cook!

  2. Really not sure they should do this – with both the endings of season 2 and season 4 so much was left unanswered I think fans will end up disappointed should the movie attempt to answer any of those cliffhangers.

I won’t spoil the season 4 finale as I don’t think SBS has aired the series yet, but of course with season 2 the big question was about Sid and Cassie – and even if they’re not in the movie, you can’t see what happened next not being mentioned. And that cliffhanger is fairly minor compared to the question we were left with at the end of the second generation.

  3. Very excited, though I’m not sure how the movie itself will be, because it’s bound to be quite different to the structure of the tv series…
Since the series focuses on one or two characters each episode, the film probably can’t do the same and I’m not sure if having an ensemble will give the film enough to explore/re-explore all the characters.
I hope Dev and Nicholas aren’t the only two from the first series – hopefully they weren’t confirmed first because they’re a bit more famous than the rest…
Hopefully the film will have a good plot, focus on the basics, and really explore the character developments.

  4. Sounds great. It’ll be interesting seeing them reprise their characters – especially now they’re a little older.

Can’t wait to see Season 4 on SBS – which I hope will be reasonably soon….
