Airdate: The Suspects: True Australian Thrillers

Roy Billing will narrate an Australian crimes and criminals series for Seven.

The next series to profile Australian crimes and criminals (and there’s been a lot of them lately) is Seven’s The Suspects: True Australian Thrillers.

With a “whodunit style” it features never before seen police interviews and surveillance tapes, dramatiaed re-enactments and news reports.

Each one-hour episode will profile three Australian cases, ranging from serious murder investigations, robberies and kidnappings to quirky and unusual cases.

Roy Billing, who has an role in Nine’s upcoming Cops LAC, will narrate the series for Seven.

“I love the whole idea of the show,” he says. “It’s real crime as opposed to fictional crime. A lot of crime shows anddramas focus on the criminals but this one highlights the cops and how they bring people to justice. You realise how dedicated, clever and hard working they are.”

Dan Meenan, Head of Factual Programming, says. “There are so many twists and turns, potential suspects and motives, that it will keep you guessing right until the very end. It’s like an Alfred Hitchcock movie; non-stop suspense and intrigue.”

It will premiere on Wednesday July 21 at 9.30pm after City Homicide and is followed by a special: Wormwood Scrubs, looking behind the locked doors of one of Europe’s largest prisons.

  1. @alvar, i think it was axed, atleast it hasn’t been renewed yet. it was definately the best one, and decent rating, but it was one of the first in a string of similar shows so probably wouldn’t have done as well now.
