Gorgi’s baby news surprise

The Circle‘s Gorgi Coghlan surprised her TEN morning co-hosts yesterday by announcing she was pregnant, on air.
It’s not exactly uncommon to remain pregnant on air these days, but it’s certainly a rarity to drop the news in the middle of a show.
Co-hosts and pals Yumi Stynes, Denise Drysdale and Chrissie Swan erupted in cheers, tears and hugs.
“It was such a special moment for all of us,” Coghlan told the Herald Sun later.
“I was so excited about telling the girls. I could not have asked for a better way to tell them. They are just so sincerely happy for me.”
Due to give birth in late January, Coghlan’s pregnancy will no doubt provide the show with a perfect ‘developing’ story for the female-skewed audience.
The show has also notched up some rising figures recently, charting over the 100,00 mark and towards the audience figures for Kerri-Anne.

What Jackie O did was tawdry, Gorgi was just sharing good news with her friends.. Do you think she’s getting $200,000 for her story in New Idea? I don’t think so.

I watch the show yesterday and how she announced was really good. I love this show and as a carer of two parents The Circle makes me laugh everyday. As what ducko said about publicity, well what you don’t know that Gorgi has been trying for a long time and you have nothing good to say then be quiet.
@lame ducko: C’mon dude, that’s a bit mean. She prob just wanted to share some good news with her TV friends. Sinking low for publicity would have required them to say “watch tomorrow’s show for some surprising news” or similar.
I think its nice to have some happy news on tv for once. Gorgi seems a lovely person and I loved the other girls reaction. The Circle is becoming a nice show to watch. Its good to see 4 females doing a show that they enjoy doing and you can just tell how close friends they all are.
@ ducko – sharing your baby news is tawdry? I don’t see her putting any dollar signs on her tummy or anything.
She is on a tv show with a predominantly female audience, many of whom are probably pregnant as well. I fail to see the tawdriness.

Congratulations Gorgi. She also has a regular segment on Denis Walter’s afternoon program after the 3pm news on 3AW radio in Melbourne on Wednesdays, so we should hear more about her pregnancy today.
