Nine’s rural dating series The Farmer Wants a Wife returns for its fifth series on Wednesday, July 28, at 8.30pm.
This season will see six farmers including its first single mother and its “loneliest farmer ever” – drover Nathan covers more than 1.4 million dry, barren acres. If ever there was a metaphor…
In the first ep, host Natalie Gruzlewski welcomes the farmers gather at a country estate to meet their top six choices. Over the coming weeks they will cull the list to three potential partners. The twist this season is that the partners won’t know the location of the farmers until they actually reach their farms.
The Farmers are:
Farmer Nathan, 26 – Runs cattle on 1.4 million acres
Farmer Devon, 25 – Cropping, wheat, barley, lupin, rye, oats and peas, on 4500 acres
Farmer Charlie, 25 – Sheep and cattle, on 6000 acres
Farmer Shaun, 31 – Sheep and crops, on 7500 acres
Farmer Becky, 34 – Cattle and sheep, on 1 million acres
Farmer Jamie, 39 – Pearls, in 12000 acres of water
The show has racked up two weddings, three engagements and two babies.

Wish SBS would do another Desperately Seeking Sheila, that was fascinating. The Nine version is a very thin attempt.
@Craig
They usually have that on the 1st ep to see how the couples from the previous seasons were.
The single mother’s a lesbian?
No.
I don’t watch the show but would love a “Where are they now?” special to see how the happy couples are doing a few years later.
