Kyle invests in club at the Cross

Kyle Sandilands has invested in Kings Cross nightclub The Piano Room and Trademark Bar, where media have been reporting him as a regular.

TV talent judge Kyle Sandilands has invested in Kings Cross nightclub The Piano Room and Trademark Bar, along with his business manager Andrew Hawkins.

The Daily Telegraph reports they will share in the club with landlord Greg Magree, licensee Mim Salvato and Poata Okeroa.

The venue, situated underneath the iconic Coca Cola sign, has been associated with John Ibrahim. The venue’s website describes it as “sophisticated scenario is a décor that pays homage to New York’s classic cocktail lounge tradition, albeit with Sydney’s taste for a touch of ‘pop’ punch.”

A spokeswoman for the Piano Room last night said: “Kyle’s management company has recently entered into an agreement to consult to the venues Piano Room and Trademark Hotel.”

Hawkins confirmed yesterday the pair had been negotiating to buy a share of both venues for several months.

“We have joined in with them so I can reduce my bar tab,” Hawkins joked yesterday, adding: “We really love the venues and enjoy working with the people there.

“Kyle is a teetotaller – but he still loves going out and being social.”

Of late media have reported The X Factor judge has been a regular at the venue along with host Matthew Newton.

  1. @ KFed – It was more of a stab at the Confidential than anything else…

@ Sean – Yes, I see the connection… *rolls eyes* if he was buying into it to start filming a television show, then it would be relevant… but if it’s a personal investment, in his personal life… it, in theory, has no place in a TV blog.

My point was that finding this blog was like striking gold as an industry person, because it is news about my industry. If it gets clogged with papparazzi-esque celebrity stories… well… you get my drift.

    1. Even though I may not necessarily agree with it, I do take note of feedback like this. For celebs the line in the sand always blurs between personal life and professional. As a rule I don’t go reporting Celeb X was seen at Bar Z but this is an investment and it may impact further down the track on his professional life, so I would be remiss not to note the “start” of that story. I think if I was beating it up as a negative your argument may be more pointed. Sandilands is hardly the first celeb to invest in a pub, but not everyone matches his stature. His investment was also reported by Media Week yesterday.

  2. hmmm… this is very loosely linked to television news.

If I wanted to read this, I could’ve flicked open the trashy ‘Confidential’.

Tv Tonight isn’t trash! Keep it that way please!

    🙂
