Whoopi accused of “hitting” View guest

Michaele Salahi, who appears in the upcoming The Real Housewives of DC, has accused Whoopi Goldberg of “hitting her” during an interview on The View.

Salahi was being interviewed by Sherri Shepherd and Joy Behar about incidents including gatecrashing the White House and a stoush with a cast member at a promotion function when Goldberg walked onto the set and prodded her to get back onto the questions.

Salahi says backstage afterwards a shouting match with Goldberg went from bad to worse.

An ABC statement said of the incident, “At one point during Michaele Salahi’s appearance on The View on Wednesday, Whoopi lightly touched Ms. Salahi to get her attention and said to her ‘Excuse me, can you get back to the White House, please,’ meaning could Ms. Salahi return to the original subject of the conversation.

“After the show, Ms. Salahi and her husband accused Whoopi of hitting Ms. Salahi. As the broadcast clearly shows, the accusation was completely unfounded and erroneous. After the show and after being told she was being accused of hitting Ms. Salahi, Whoopi proceeded to defend herself verbally from this baseless claim in a heated exchange with the Salahis.”

A lawyer for Salahi says producers also turned on the applause light for the audience when Sherri Shepherd told Salahi that “you should be in jail” for gatecrashing the White House.

  1. What a ridiculous attention seeker! I was watching yesterday when Whoopi ‘hit’ her. They actually showed it on the View today from another camera angle, and you can see Whoopi touch her on the back and say “Can we please get back to ‘talking aout’ the White House?”
    Every time a question was asked about crashing the White House, Salahi would go on and on about a book that is coming out, that will tell the whole story.
    There was also a big altercation backstage between Whoopi, Michaele Salahi and her husband.
    Reality TV has a lot to answer for 🙁

  4. I was watching this yesterday. While the hosts did interupt her quite a bit, she was clearly trying to come up with an ecvuse on the spot. But I found amusing that amount of patriotic (AKA ‘Typical American’) views the host kept banging on about.
