All clear for Mark Holden

Former Australian Idol judge Mark Holden has been cleared of cancer following a six-hour operation.

Former Australian Idol judge Mark Holden has been cleared of cancer following a six-hour operation to remove a tumour in his thyroid in April.

“I just had iodine radiation two weeks ago and they did a scan last Friday,” Holden told the Herald Sun.

“My surgeon called me … to tell me they didn’t find any new tumours. That was an enormous relief and I have actually had my first drink tonight for some time and that felt good, too, because I do like a drink.”

Holden, 56, was diagnosed after discovering a lump in his neck last September.

There had been some concerns cancer might have spread to other parts of his body but doctors haven’t found any further trace.

“I don’t know that I have a clean bill, but my doctor told me there is nothing new,” he said.

  1. Yes good news – he may be an odd fellow, but i grew up watching and listening to him in the 70’s, and would like him around for some time yet! He is a talented man.
