Farnham tops Footy Show finale

John "never say never" Farnham performs with a 28 piece band at the AFL Footy Show finale.

Be afraid. The Footy Show is about to unleash its annual Grand Final night, where players discard their inhibitions and attempt to enter the foray of show biz.

Entertainers this year include John “never say never” Farnham with a 28 piece band.

The Potbelleez will perform Hello and Don’t Hold Back while Birds of Tokyo perform their hit single Plans.

But it’s the Player Revue that defines this night as AFL players strutt their stuff for better or worse (half naked, in costume, drag, tutus or all of the above). You have been warned…..

Garry Lyon, James Brayshaw and Sam Newman will be joined by Shane Crawford, Billy Brownless, Brisbane’s Jonathan Brown, Bulldogs’ Barry Hall and Hawthorn’s Luke Hodge.

It airs 8:30pm in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth and 11:15 in Sydney and Brissy on Nine.

  1. @Bill Gates. Put it this way, a greater majority of Australia plays AFL. It has teams in 5 states. NRL only has 3 states. If we’re wanting to be pedantic about titles, “National” in NRL is as erroneous as the “Australian” in AFL.

  2. ohh ohh let me have a go….
@Trace W… from a state who reckons they are the sports capital of australia, they are pretty good at not even knowing that the is a difference between rugby league, and rugby union… NRL is not called rugby.

and “the rest of australia” does not play AFL….
does NT play in the AFL? no….
does tasmania play in the AFL? no….
does ACT play in the AFL? no…

so how is that the rest of australia?

  3. “the facts” – sorry to you – but I was actually directly quoting another post. Thus the quotation marks. So perhaps you should re-direct your comments to Rob, who was actually responsible for that particular phrase.

  4. Actually I do believe someone is incorrect here in calling it Vicball, Try Rugby is only played in NSW/QLD, I do beleive the Rest of Australia plays AFL. So perhaps in NSW/QLD it should be known as Rugbyball, Dont get me wrong I love both codes, but I do believe you are incorrect.

  5. “Australian Football? sorry Rachel. But Victorian handball is neither Australian(Nobody in NSW/QLD care) nor is it Foot-ball. that name was taken many centuries ago. Vicball is the correct term.”

Actually the correct term is “Australian Rules Football” which is 100% accurate – it’s football with Australian Rules. (Also, by your logic, should NRL have its “National” title removed and be renamed NSWQLDNZRL?)

By the way, the first football association was formed in England in the mid 1800s, as was the first Aussie Rules Football club (1859 to be exact). It is one of the oldest codes in the world, much older than NRL at any rate.

  6. Australian Football? sorry sweetheart (Rachel). But Victorian handball is neither Australian(Nobody in NSW/QLD care) nor is it Foot-ball. that name was taken many centuries ago. Vicball is the correct term.

  7. “And Dan calling Australian Football, Aerial Ping Pong is just childish and really makes league fans sound like backward hicks afraid of all things new”

Because calling NRL fans “insular rugby league twits lately, who feel so insecure about their own sport that they feel the need to make provocative/uninformed comments ” is sophisticated and insightful commentary…?

  8. This site is being over run by insular rugby league twits lately, who feel so insecure about their own sport that they feel the need to make provocative/uninformed comments (particularly in the ratings page) about the AFL to make the NRL appear better then reality. Can we stick to TV comments please, if you want AFL bashing, then your on the wrong site!
And Dan calling Australian Football, Aerial Ping Pong is just childish and really makes league fans sound like backward hicks afraid of all things new.

  9. The Potbelleez will be busy this week. The group will perform on the results show of The X Factor in Sydney tonight, before flying to Melbourne to perform at Federation Square on Wednesday as part of AFL Grand Final week (Thirsty Merc will perform on both X Factor results show and Federation Square gig too), before the Footy Show on Thursday.
